It’s how you receive product recommendations while browsing online, it’s that magical skill that understands your voice when you speak to Siri or Alexa, it recognizes the faces in your photos, it automatically moves the spam emails you receive into your Junk folder, and it sends you a text message when it suspects you might be a victim of credit card fraud.
Artificial intelligence is all around us. And it’s making life easier. But what about AI in marketing?

The definition of AI, or artificial intelligence, is “intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence displayed by humans.” AI is essentially the science of programming machines to be smarter than we are by making accurate predictions based on large sets of data.

Try the app. Looking for a new bedside table but want to make sure it will fit? The app helps with that, too.

Another one of my favorite examples of AR is USA TODAY’s 321 Launch app, which lets you use augmented reality to experience a rocket launch right from your phone on any flat surface.

Google even has a name for theirs: RankBrain. RankBrain is “a component of Google’s core algorithm which uses machine learning to determine the most relevant results to search engine queries.”
According to Moz, “the query goes through an interpretation model that can apply possible factors like the location of the searcher, personalization, and the words of the query to determine the searcher’s true intent. By discerning this true intent, Google can deliver more relevant results.”
In layman’s terms, RankBrain is using machine learning to process searches and deliver what it deems as the most useful result to the searcher.
Machine learning is hugely useful in instances where there is a large amount of data to process and has optimized many aspects of marketing for businesses and brands both large and small.

Facebook Events app on iOS
Facebook has released a dedicated app on iPhone that you can use as your dedicated calendar.
Events on Facebook are almost as integral a part of the service as photos, status updates, and the almighty poke. To place greater emphasis on events, the social networking site has released an app named just that, Events, for iOS (with an Android version on the way). As one would expect, the app gives you an overview of your various Facebook events coming up. The app also suggests events you might like, based on interests selected when you first open the app. Though most interesting is that Facebook offers to tie-in to your regular iCloud calendar, meaning if you want to make it your primary calendar app you can very well do so.
To start, download and install the app from here. If you’re already logged into Facebook on your phone, you’ll be prompted to “Continue as Your Name Here.” Follow the motions and enter the app.
After entering the home screen, tap the calendar icon (third from the left). You’ll be taken to the calendar view. At which point you may be greeted by a giant lock symbol. If so, the app will tell you to head over to the Settings app and change a toggle in privacy. While we couldn’t find the Events app in the privacy portion of Settings, here’s what did work.
Head to the fourth icon to reach the Events app settings, and tap the first selection Calendars.

Adding your iCloud calendar Facebook Events app
Upon tapping Calendars, you’ll be prompted to give Facebook access to your iOS calendar (the default calendar system on iPhone). To create and modify non-Facebook events within the Events app, you’ll need to allow access. This access can be revoked at any time within the privacy section of the Settings app.
Once you’ve granted access, you can add an event using the plus button in the top right. You’ll be greeted with a menu asking if you want to create a Facebook event or a standard calendar one.

In the wake of the calendar app Sunrise, Facebook’s Events app could fill a hole in the app screen of power calendar users. Few apps offer event suggestion just a few panels over and combining a users default iPhone calendar is a clever way to keep users inside Events. Support for Google Calendar would seal the deal but we’ll wait and see what the Android version brings.
Nvidia’s game streaming service GeForce Now has been in beta for quite some time, but now, the company has finally opened it for public access. However, the company is still limiting its Stadia competitor to the US so far. So, if you’re in India and you want to test out Nvidia’s take on the whole cloud-gaming concept, here’s how you can use Nvidia GeForce Now in India right now.What is GeForce Now
First off, what is GeForce Now? Simply put, GeForce Now is a cloud game streaming service that lets users play high-end games on basically any computer or smartphone they have without worrying about the hardware inside their system. You can play battle royale games like Apex Legends on a MacBook or a low-end Windows laptop, or even an Android smartphone. All you really need is an account with GeForce Now, and a fast internet connection. If you have that, you’re all set to play your games wherever you like and on whatever device you want.
In concept, this is similar to other options like Microsoft’s Project xCloud, and Google Stadia. However, unlike Google Stadia, Nvidia isn’t restricting users to a very short list of devices anymore. You can use GeForce on Windows, macOS, Nvidia Shield TV, and Android smartphones. The only thing missing so far is iOS, and I hope Nvidia adds that soon as well.How to Use GeForce Now in India
So, now that we have a general idea about what GeForce Now is, let’s take a look at how you can use it in India right away. Here’s what you need to do.
First up, download a VPN if you don’t already have one. You can choose one from our list of best VPN apps for Windows and macOS if you want. For testing, I tried Tunnelbear and ExpressVPN and both of them worked perfectly fine.
Log in with your Nvidia account if you have one, or create a new account like I did.
Once you verify your email, you will be able to download the GeForce Now app for your platform of choice. Since I’m testing this on a Mac, I downloaded the GeForce Now app for macOS.
You can now search for games you own, or for the free to play titles like Apex Legends (that’s the one I tested the service with) and add them to your GeForce Now library.
When you launch a game for the first time, GeForce Now might ask you to sign in with the account you use for the game. It will then check your network to ensure you get a seamless experience.
In my case, I was testing the service on our incredibly slow office WiFi with a VPN running on top of it. So I wasn’t really surprised when GeForce Now said that the network will support only 1280×800 at 30FPS streaming. So that’s basically it. You can now play any of the over 400 supported games on GeForce Now (although GTA V isn’t on it) on any device you like. It’s pretty great. However bear in mind that since we’re using a VPN to access the service, you might have to deal with higher than usual ping values. It seems we’ve been led down a garden path when it comes to productivity. We’ve been told, “hard work will get you ahead”, and that we need to be “more productive” and that “urgent & important” is what we should aspire to.
And don’t even get me started on stretch goals!
These beliefs or mindsets are a hangover from the industrial revolution. In a knowledge economy, we need to think differently about work and productivity.
According to research by The Development Academy, despite years of training, books and strategies we are still not getting it right when it comes to time management.
As a productivity expert and author, I’ve seen, read, researched tried out most hacks, tips and tricks and here’s what I believe are the top five rules about productivity you should break and what to do instead.Hard work will get you ahead
We’ve all had those days/weeks where we feel like we have been flat out, and yet we get to the end of the week and still feel we haven’t achieved anything.
Instead of thinking of work as “hard” we need to focus on how we can get into flow.
It’s likely that your most productive days were because you were in flow doing all the right things at the right time. Work shouldn’t feel hard.
Identify the two or three things that will make a real difference in your day and get those done. Once they are done, you can take the foot off the accelerator and give yourself some thinking and breathing space, or be available for others that might need help.Being 100% on, 100% of the time Have a To-Do List
When you think about it, to do lists are the ultimate in procrastination. You write down things you are going . . . to do. Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of getting things out of your head and onto paper, however if they aren’t managed well, they can create even greater feelings of overwhelm. Instead of one big, long list of things do to, carve it up according to the best time of day, eg the morning are better for mental alertness, when you need your smarts, and the afternoon is better for routine work.Do the most challenging things first
Momentum trumps motivation. Studies in neuroscience have shown that creating momentum is what will get you through your day. Creating a pattern of completion, or achievement sets off neurotransmitters that have you feel motivated to continue on regardless of the difficulty or level of desire you have for a project.Finish up everything before you head home
Rather than letting your to-do list determine the end of your day, pick a time. There are two good reasons for this: 1. You can then finish the day and head home at a reasonable hour, 2. Chances are the hard stop will push you to get through more than you thought possible.
However, resist the urge to clear your inbox by the end of the day. By clearing your inbox, you are overloading others who are also trying to get out clean for the weekend.
In summary, traditional time management theories haven’t kept pace with modern workplace demands. The old adage of working smarter, not harder, is what is at play here. When you make conscious choices about what you need to do, and then decide the best time to do it, you will set yourself up for successful productive days.
