Suggested January 2024 Architectural Renderings With Inherent Beauty
In the slide show above, historic representations are celebrated for their style, as well as their functionality.
Federal, Victorian, Arts and Crafts, International. Each historic period reflects changing styles and tastes in home building, and each home becomes a time capsule.
The crafts of home building and architecture keep evolving, says Keith Morgan. The efficiency of technology has replaced the artistry of architectural renderings. That artistry of the past, shown in hand-drawn examples, color added with brushes and pencils, lines the walls of the Boston University Art Gallery at the Stone Gallery through January 17, 2010.
Drawing Toward Home: Designs for Domestic Architecture from Historic New England features 100 drawings of houses selected from the collections of Historic New England, the country’s oldest and largest regional heritage organization. The drawings celebrate Boston-area houses still standing, and also represent the only remaining artifacts from homes that have met the wrecking ball. They range from the late 18th through the 20th centuries, from estates and modest single-family houses to summer cottages and multifamily dwellings.
“This exhibition gives students a laboratory of images,” says Morgan, director of architecture studies in the College of Arts & Sciences art history department, who will give a gallery talk today, Wednesday, December 2, at 4 p.m. at the gallery. “Rather than seeing digitized images in a dark room, these are real objects.”
The exhibition celebrates Historic New England’s centennial year, which begins in January, and the American and New England Studies Program’s 40th year on campus. Along with a gallery talk by Lorna Condon, Historic New England curator of library archives, on Tuesday, December 15, at 4 p.m., also at the gallery, a campus symposium in January will bring together curators to discuss the role of architecture.
Drawing Toward Home: A Symposium on Designs for Domestic Architecture from Historic New England will be held January 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the George Sherman Union Conference Auditorium, second floor, 775 Commonwealth Ave. Key scholars involved with Drawing Toward Home will share their research, including the exhibition’s chief curator, James F. O’Gorman, a Wellesley College professor emeritus, who will give an overview lecture. Christopher Monkhouse, Eloise W. Martin curator of European decorative arts at the Art Institute of Chicago, will discuss the history of the exhibition of architectural drawings in New England. Lorna Condon, Historic New England curator of library archives, will talk about the role of collecting architectural drawings in the organization. Debora Mayer, Harvard’s Helen Glaser senior paper conservator, who prepared the drawings for exhibition, will share the challenge of maintaining architectural records. The symposium, sponsored by the Boston University Humanities Foundation, is free and open to the public.
Drawing Toward Home is on display at the BU Art Gallery through January 17, 2010, and is free and open to the public. The BUAG, 855 Commonwealth Ave., is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; it is closed for all BU holidays, as well as during winter intersession.

There are people in every industry who we look up to, who set the bar for excellence and are pioneers in the field. They are remarkable at their craft, but they also inspire others. Brad Geddes, Melissa Mackey, and David Szetela are just a few of the PPC specialists who have always inspired me to be better.
Great PPC specialists have certain qualities that set them apart. These qualities help with day-to-day management, client relations, and knowledge sharing.
Most importantly, these characteristics foster the ability to think big and answer questions people aren’t even asking.
Below are the five qualities that define the best PPC specialists:Thinks Critically
What does it really mean to be a critical thinker? Are you critically thinking when you begin preparing for your spring PPC campaigns in the fall? Or are you a critical thinker when you look at a report and anticipate questions your client will ask before he has the chance to ask?
I define questions like these as critically thinking, but only to a certain degree. Bigger, more holistic questions might be:
What are early trends showing for next spring?
What cost projections should I be showing the client?
How have the new Google Shopping campaigns impacted my PLA exposure from previous months?
How did paid search help other marketing channels?
A critical thinker looks a step ahead in an effort to get ahead of the game. For example, when Google Shopping first became a fully paid platform, very few people were discussing feed optimization. As Shopping matured, having a well-categorized and clean feed became much more important.
Critical thinkers look beyond face value. Perhaps a business saw a significant decline in conversions in July 2014 versus July 2013. Eight of the ten campaigns performed the same while two saw conversion decreases. The question then becomes what caused the decrease. At face value, certain keywords performed better last year even though ad copy stayed the same. The conclusion may be that the keywords aren’t as popular, or perhaps they’ve become more expensive.
The critical thinker will look for more in-depth answers. Perhaps the business was the exclusive seller of a product or the price was much lower, causing them to beat the competition. Or external factors like seasonality and popularity allowed the keywords to be more effective in 2013. Or, perhaps a website change has negatively impacted the conversion rate.
Whatever the case may be, a critical thinker researches more deeply.Thinks Beyond PPC
The best PPC Specialists look at the entirety of the online marketing industry. PPC impacts many channels and vice versa. Here is a perfect example is what is going on with SEO: over the last few years there have been many updates designed to provide users with better organic results. Many companies have lost huge portions of their SEO traffic, forcing a greater investment in PPC.
Additionally, between ad extensions and PLAs, more of the search results page is taken up by paid listings than ever before. This change matters when looking to get the most ROI out of your PPC campaigns.
Finally, redesigns and everyday website updates must be reviewed. For example, a website’s URL structure can determine how tedious or easy it will be to create remarketing lists.
A great PPC Specialist understands that PPC is part of a much bigger ecosystem.Writes Well
We often think of PPC as being extremely data oriented, but it is just as much about the written word. Between workload, emails, blogs, and miscellaneous items, I would guess the average PPC professional writes at least a couple thousand words a day. Since writing is such an important part of the job, it makes sense that the best PPC Specialists write well.
The biggest consequence of poor writing is wasted time. Whether it’s an email or a blog, poor writing causes confusion for readers. A client reading an unclear email will respond asking for further clarification, eating up time for both parties. A blog editor is going to spend time editing—or essentially rewriting—the article. The bottom line is that poor writing equals time wasted.
I hit on it earlier, but the biggest thing you can do to avoid wasted time while writing is to anticipate. As you write client emails, foresee what they will ask and answer those questions in the initial email.
You’ll never be able to anticipate every follow-up, but you will save time by answering questions before they are asked.Loves To Share
The best PPC Specialists enjoy sharing their ideas and findings. Most times, this sharing occurs through blogs, webinars, or conferences. Sharing can also mean engaging in conversations on social media channels such as Twitter and LinkedIn.
The act of sharing is so important because it showcases the extra, out-of-account time PPC Specialists invest in the industry. Writing a blog post or creating a presentation takes time. Taking up personal time to share knowledge is a selfless act. I’m not saying that these professionals don’t enjoy what they are doing, but it’s still time away from some other part of their lives.Has the Inherent PPC Passion
It’s easy to tell if someone has a passion for PPC. You can see their excitement when talking about industry updates, and you know they salivate whenever new betas open. Even on their most hectic days they still love talking PPC.
Passion is so important because it shows a willingness to learn and improve. In an ever-changing industry, passion is not just important. It’s a necessity. PPC professionals need to continue to learn and grow. Conclusion
Think about the top PPC specialists in the industry and consider if they are missing any of these qualities. Great PPC specialists are well-rounded individuals who love what they do and want to better the industry.

Dark skin is distinct from other skin tones and has different skincare requirements. Individual skin issues like hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, and dark circles are more common in those with dark skin. The finest skincare and cosmetic procedures for persons with dark skin to attain healthy, vibrant, and even-toned skin will be covered in this article.Skin Care Tips for People with Dark Skin
Following these guidelines can help persons with dark complexion look beautiful, vibrant, and self-assured.Wear Sunscreen
Apply it liberally to all exposed skin, including your face, neck, and hands. If you’re going outside or perspiring, reapply it every two hours.Exfoliate
Exfoliation involves eliminating dead skin cells from the skin’s surface, which can assist to improve the texture and tone of your skin. In order to avoid ingrown hairs, which can cause hyperpigmentation and scarring, exfoliation can be especially crucial for persons with dark skin.
Exfoliating dark skin requires caution, though, since abrasive scrubbing or chemical peels can irritate and harm the skin. Instead, search for products that contain mild exfoliants like enzymes or alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), and apply them no more than once or twice a week. You can maintain your skin appearing supple, radiant, and healthy by exfoliating on a regular basis.Use Products with Natural Ingredients
Sulfates, parabens, and perfumes are among the harsh chemicals found in many skincare products, which can irritate skin that is already sensitive. Choose soft, natural products that won’t trigger inflammation or discolouration while caring for those with dark skin. Use products with natural components like aloe vera, chamomile, and tea tree oil, which are calming and nourishing for the skin, rather than those with artificial fragrances and colours. Natural skin care products can help maintain healthy, radiant skin without irritating or harming it.Moisturize Daily
Dark skinned individuals frequently have a tendency toward dryness, which can cause flakiness, itching, and irritation. It’s crucial to use a daily moisturizer made for your skin type to fight these problems. Seek for a moisturizer with moisturizing and nourishing components, such as glycerin, jojoba oil, or shea butter. After bathing or showering, apply it all over your body, paying special attention to any particularly dry spots like your knees, elbows, and feet. You can maintain your skin soft, supple, and healthy-looking by moisturizing frequently.Stay Away from Skincare Products Containing Hydroquinone
To lessen the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation, skincare products frequently contain the skin-lightening ingredient hydroquinone. Nevertheless, it’s been connected to cancer, rashes, and even skin irritability. Hydroquinone use can cause an uneven skin tone in those with dark complexion because it can brighten certain regions of the skin while leaving others black. Instead, seek for products with all-natural skin-brightening components that are kinder and safer for the skin, such as vitamin C, kojic acid, or licorice root.Uphold a Wholesome Diet and a Healthy Lifestyle
The condition and appearance of your skin can be significantly influenced by what you put into your body. Your skin may benefit from the nutrients it needs to look its best by eating a balanced diet full of fruits, vegetables, healthy grains, and lean protein. Moreover, drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated might help keep your skin moisturized and plump. Finally, maintaining a healthy weight and controlling stress can also support glowing, healthy skin. You can promote the health and beauty of your skin naturally by taking care of your body and mind.Don’t Look Down on Your Skin Colour
For those with dark complexion, embracing their inherent beauty is a crucial component of their skincare and beauty regimen. Focus on enhancing your beauty using all-natural and gentle cosmetics rather than trying to modify your skin tone or cover up your natural traits. You may create a style that celebrates your own beauty by selecting skincare products that match your skin tone and applying makeup hues that highlight your features. Additionally, taking care of yourself and living a healthy lifestyle can encourage your skin’s inherent attractiveness and make you feel beautiful and secure in your own skin. How to Choose Right Makeup for Dark Complexation?
Here are some guidelines for selecting the best cosmetics for those with dark skin −
It’s vital to know your skin’s undertone (cool, warm, or neutral) while choosing makeup, much as it is when picking the correct foundation. This will assist you in selecting hues that flatter your skin tone and give you a natural appearance.
As previously said, darker skin tones have a tendency to absorb more light, which can cause makeup colours to appear less brilliant. Seek for highly pigmented shades. To make sure that the colours show up on your skin, choose for makeup that is bright and highly pigmented.
Use a decent primer before foundation and other makeup products to make them last longer and appear perfect. This will give your makeup a smooth base and make it easier for it to stick to your skin.Don’t Shame on Your Skin Colour
The uniqueness and beauty of having dark skin should be praised and cherished. Sadly, society has a history of endorsing Eurocentric aesthetic ideals that frequently exclude persons with darker skin tones. Yet it’s crucial to keep in mind that beauty comes in a variety of shades and shapes. Dark skin should be honoured and valued because it represents diversity and strength. By ignoring those with darker skin, we support negative preconceptions and constrict our perception of what true beauty is. Let’s embrace dark skin as a distinctive feature of our cultural history and celebrate its beauty instead. We can make a world where people of all skin tones are valued and cherished by working together. Conclusion
To address their particular challenges and keep a glowing, healthy complexion, people with dark skin need to follow specific skincare and cosmetic regimens. This entails utilizing skincare products that are appropriate for their skin type, shielding their skin from UV radiation, and taking care of hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. The natural beauty of dark skin should also be enhanced by using specific makeup techniques and hair care routines. Those with dark complexion can appear perfect, radiant, and self-assured by adhering to these suggestions and techniques.
In the past few years, activated charcoal has become a common ingredient in over-the-counter beauty and health products—not to mention it’s also made an appearance in coffee, ice cream, and cookies, among other things, turning them all an elegant black. In particular, the substance has recently become a popular component in skincare, with its presence in this market expected to continue its rise for some time. There’s just one problem: There’s no proof it does any good, and in some cases it might be harmful.
Charcoal itself is simply the carbon residue left over after slow heating high-carbon-content materials like wood, coconut shells or even sugar to remove most of the water they contain. It’s lightweight, highly portable, and burns for a long time at a reliable temperature. Thanks to these properties, humans have used charcoal as fuel for thousands of years. And you know humans: If it’s around them, at some point they’re likely to try to eat it. Nobody knows exactly how or who came up with the idea, but by the time of Hippocrates (approximately 500 CE), some people were using it as toothpaste, thanks to its abrasive properties.
Documented cases of charcoal being ingested date as far back as the 1800s when documents show doctors used the substance to treat food poisoning, according to David Juurlink, a pharmacologist at the University of Toronto. When mixed with water, the stuff creates a slurry that attracts toxins to its surface, reducing the amount that goes into a person’s system. Speaking to Popular Science, Juurlink says doctors give activated charcoal to a person who has overdosed on a drug or been poisoned in another way. The slurry is administered by mouth or via a nasal tube that goes down into the stomach and attracts the dangerous toxins in an affected individual.
This system works thanks to its pores, which are all the little holes you may have noticed in charcoal briquettes. Activated charcoal has been specially treated with heat to have more of them—a lot more—which means more of its material is in contact with the outside world. This gives the stuff an incredibly high surface area—just a gram of it can have a surface area upwards of 32,000 square feet.
For people who are not actively experiencing an overdose, Juurlink says, drinking an activated charcoal slurry or taking activated charcoal pills probably won’t hurt them, “but it assuredly will do them no good.”
But, again, there’s absolutely no reason to be taking activated charcoal at home. It won’t detox your body or make you healthier. There’s also no benefit to putting it on your skin despite the fact that it’s now marketed as beneficial in a slew of over-the-counter skin care products.
Starting in about 2014, some skincare companies started heavily marketing charcoal-infused products with a specific focus on the acne treatment market. Because things “stick” to activated charcoal, the theory goes, the substance should be able to clear your pores of gunk and otherwise get potentially pore-clogging substances off the skin. Even Biore, maker of the classic pore strips, got in on the action with a whole line of charcoal products.
“It looks cool, it’s inexpensive and it’s not harmful… which is more than I can say for a lot of other beauty treatments” writes Michelle Wong who has a PhD in chemistry and runs a blog about the science of beauty, but there’s also no evidence it does anything, she writes.
“Since there have been few studies regarding charcoal’s effects on the skin, these products should be used in moderation and with caution,” the University of Miami researchers write. That’s particularly true for products that promise to unblock your pores with visible results (think those oh-so-satisfying-to-remove pore strips, which come off—often painfully—and bring tons of pore-clogging gunk with them.) If it hurts or causes irritation, don’t do it, no matter how clean it seems to make your skin.
In the case of both consuming activated charcoal and putting it on your skin, there’s another big issue clinicians worry about: Since it hasn’t been shown to have any positive effect, relying on it to treat genuine illness or injury could delay you getting the help you need. In other words, if you feel sick, see a medical professional because activated charcoal can’t help you. But if you just want your face mask to be a stylish black, well, nobody’s stopping you.
Apple opened a new flagship store in downtown Chicago yesterday and it is stunning. Sitting right along the Chicago River, Apple Michigan Avenue has been moved south about 5 blocks. 14 years ago Apple opened its first flagship store here in Chicago, and now they are doubling down on their mission: stores aren’t just for making money.
In an interview with CNBC, Cook explained the goals of Apple’s retail stores are much more than selling products. Referring to the current remodeling and community driven focus of Apple’s retail stores, he said:
“Some stores are for selling, actually almost all stores are for selling. It’s actually a small part of what we do in our store. Our stores are about service, supporting customers, being a place where customers can discover and explore our products, and education. And connecting. A place where people can connect.”
Earlier this year when Today at Apple launched, the idea was for people to be able to come to the stores, hangout, play, and learn something new. While there is still a focus on selling products, it is hardly the main focus.
Looking into Apple’s new Michigan Avenue store, the first thing that catches your eyes is the huge 6K resolution screen. This screen is freestanding with the doors to the river walk located behind it. With your back to the screen, you can take in the beauty of the rest of the store. The balconies above for performances and sessions, the trees indicating the Genius Grove, and the back of the store housing all of the products. The craziest part about that area is that it is actually located underneath the balconies and partially under pioneer Plaza above!
After you notice all of these things, the little things start to stand out to you. The curved glass that makes up the corners is nothing short of a technological marvel, especially because it can stop a vehicle crash of up to 75 miles per hour. Then you see the ceiling which is made from thousands of white oak slats underneath the carbon fiber roof made by PTC in Dubai. The shining white walls are all Castagna Limestone and the floors are granite from a single quarry in China. The Willy Wonka-esque glass elevator was made by Mitsubishi and all the leather in the store is from Hermès.
The coolest (pun intended) thing about the store though isn’t any of the architectural marvels that sprout from Jony Ive’s mind. It’s the heating and cooling system used for the partial underground store. What they do is pump water from the river to heat and cool the building. According to an employee in the store, it is a much greener solution to maintaining a comfortable atmosphere inside.
It’s not to sell you hundreds of dollars of merchandise, though that may be a by product. Apple’s goal is to educate and to become a staple in the community, and not just by selling tech.

When your workforce is scattered all over the world, it’s important to have a reliable communication platform.
Pumble was first introduced in 2023 as a Slack alternative and we discovered that it covers most communication needs.
In this article, we will take a closer look at this text, voice, and video calls web app for you to decide if it’s the right choice or not. What is Pumble and what does it do?
As we mentioned above, Pumble is a free communication platform that offers text, voice, and video call features.
Its structure looks a lot like the one in Slack, and it can work online in most browsers but it also has downloadable apps for all the platforms.
That includes Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, so basically, you can use it on almost any device. What are the best features of Pumble? 1. Instant communication
The core feature of Pumble is the instant text communication. In other words, you can chat privately, one-on-one, in private group chats only for invited users, and in public conversations with whoever wants to join.
Everything is pretty straightforward. You can notify someone by adding the @ symbol in front of the name.
Another interesting feature is that you may pin an important message during the conversation to have it for later.
You have the option to create as many channels as you want and split up the communication between departments or key activities you need to discuss.2. Great interactivity
The best part of Pumble is that you can forget about the mail and send files directly within the channel or thread.
Images, videos, links, PDFs, and more can all be added seamlessly for others to download or see right in the app.
This will save a lot of time checking if someone is on leave or sick and pushing for an answer.3. Voice and video calls
If you want to spread your message better, there’s nothing better than one-to-one audio or video call.
Unfortunately, you don’t have the option of group calls but if you upgrade to the Pro plan, you also get the screen sharing option.
The voice and video quality are very good although that also depends on your Internet connection, of course.
As we’ve mentioned above, Pumble is a fremium app. That means that the core features are free but if you want extra features, you need to upgrade your account.
The price for the Pro plan is $1.99 per user per month and for that, you will get the following bonus features:
Guest access – You can invite anyone from outside and limit their right to content viewing
Screen sharing – During a video call, you can switch the view to your system desktop
