Coolpad Mega 2.5D Hands On & Quick Review
It is launched at a price of Rs. 6,999 which directly puts it against the recently launched Redmi 3s and its own sibling Coolpad Note 3 Lite. The highlight of this smartphone is the front camera which claims to capture the selfies you need. Before wasting any more time, let’s have a quick look at the design and build.
Coolpad Mega 2.5D Specifications[table id=618 /]
Coolpad Mega 2.5D Photo Gallery Coolpad Mega 2.5D Physical OverviewSomething that I found good about this phone is the design and builds quality for the price. When I first saw the device, I was impressed with the way Coolpad Mega looked in the hand. It felt really light and one could feel it the moment you take it in hand. Out of curiosity, I immediately revised the specs to check the weight and I was impressed to see that the 5.5 inch smartphone weighs just 140 grams.
The front of the phone has the 5.5 inch display with 2.5D curved glass, which makes it look impressive. Just above the display, you will find the ear piece with the front camera on its right and the ambient light sensor to the left of the ear piece.
On the bottom, you will find the three on-screen buttons for navigation. Coolpad branding is placed at the bottom bezel which looks good.
The Volume rocker is placed on the left side.

And the loudspeaker grill is at the bottom.
Display OverviewThe Coolpad Mega 2.5D comes with a 5.5 inch IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The good thing about the display is the colour accuracy, crispness and brightness, but the viewing angles are just decent. It is worth noting that the Mega 2.5D does not come with a Gorilla Glass.
Camera OverviewThe Coolpad Mega 2.5D is a selfie-focused smartphone as it sports 8MP camera sensors on the front and the back. Front camera comes with an f/2.2 aperture, an 83.6-degree field of view, and a ‘smart beautification’ feature to enhance your selfies. Lava Magnum X604 Unboxing, Full Review, Camera, Gaming, Benchmarks, Features and Overview[Video] Design, Display and BuildLava Magnum X604 is huge at 6 inches in size with substantial vertical bezels, but thanks to gently curved rear back (around the edges), it’s comfortable to hold in hand. The leather flipcover is good in quality and Lava has also bundled a scratch guard in the box for display protection. Considering the large footprint, it is slim enough but feels slightly heavy in hand. Power button is easily accessible on the right edge and headphone jack is present on the top.
Processor and RAMThe processor used is 1.2 GHz quad core Broadcom chipset with VideoCore IV GPU and 1 GB RAM (more than 500 MB free). The chipset is the major negative factor in this device. UI lags were noticeable right from the start and this is expected to worsen in the long run. Antutu score is 14557 and nenamark score is 30.7 fps.
If you are interested in basic usage like watching some Youtube videos, basic social networking apps, basic games like temple run, etc, you wouldn’t be irked much. This device is not meant for high end or moderate gaming or other demanding tasks.

The battery capacity is 2800 mAh and the battery backup is good. You can get more than 5 hours of onscreen time. With moderate usage, you can comfortably last one day. We did see some unexpected battery drain with 3G on, but on WiFi the battery backup was good.
Sound, Video Playback and ConnectivityThe headphones that come in the box are not of very good quality. The loudspeaker was not too loud and the mesh is present on the rear side as well, which muffles the sound when the phone is resting on its back. You can play HD and full HD videos, but there was some lag while jumping the navigation bar when we were testing full HD videos. GPS locking takes slightly more time.
Lava Magnum X604 Photo Gallery Conclusion and PriceLava Magnum X604 is a well built device with decent display and good battery backup- an important parameter in 6 inch devices, but unfortunately, there is some noticeable lag in all aspects which leaves a bad taste. The device is meant for first time android users new to the ecosystem with basic usage requirements. The handset is available for 11,199 INR, a price where several big guns like Moto G and Zenfone 5 are retailing and which you can consider if you are willing to settle for a smaller screen size.

Apple Watch Unboxing And Hardware Overview
After what seemed like an immeasurable wait, I finally got my UPS delivery, and the Apple Watch is now in hand. Unfortunately, I only received one of the two watches that I purchased—a 38mm Apple Watch Sport with a white band. I’m not complaining though, at least I got something on launch day.
The Apple Watch Sport box differs from the Apple Watch collection and Apple Watch Edition collection. The Sport box is nice, but as others have shown, the Watch and Edition collections are even nicer.
As other have stated, the Sport band is much nicer than one may first assume, fluoroelastomer or not. It has a supple feeling that’s soft to the touch and feels great on the wrists. The black version of the Sport band is even better feeling.
Speaking of the band, it’s broken up into three parts for adjustable fitting. It also comes with an inductive charger (it’s plastic, unlike the metal versions featured with the Watch and Edition collections) and a tiny power brick.
The 38mm version of the Apple Watch is extremely small. I’m glad that this one won’t be my daily driver, as my 42mm Space Black Apple Watch Sport will assume that duty upon arrival.
Although three collections exist for the Apple Watch—the Sport, Watch, and Edition—it’s good to know that from a hardware perspective, all models of Apple Watch are pretty much the same. All of them sport the exact same technical hardware inside of the device.
Digital Crown
Press and hold to invoke Siri
Turn to zoom, scroll, or adjust i.e. navigating within apps and traversing the Carousel Home screen interface
Side button
Display
One of the cool things about the Apple Watch is its display, not only is the display an AMOLED screen, with great black levels, it’s also a button. The Apple Watch includes a feature called Force Touch, that allows you to firmly press on the screen to do things like changing the watch face or to see in-app options.
The display features the following gestures:
Swipe
Drag
Tap
Force Touch
Unlike the iPhone and iPad, the Apple Watch is not multitouch enabled. Considering how small the screen is, that makes sense.
The rear of the Apple Watch
On the Apple Watch’s backside, you’ll find several notable features. You’ll see a speaker and microphone. These are used for music playback, Siri, Phone calls, etc.
You also have a heart rate sensor—those four little circles that rest against your wrist. These circles light up with a green color in order to calculate your heart rate.
The other circle that encompasses the four smaller heart rate sensor circle is the ring that the inductive charger pad aligns to. You simple rest your Apple Watch against this charger, and the charging begins. There is nothing to plug in on the Apple Watch itself.
Finally, you’ll find a pair of band release buttons. When you want to remove a band for cleaning, or swap between bands, use the band release buttons to easily do so.
One more thing
There is one more interface available on the Apple Watch that I’ve yet to mention, and that’s the diagnostic port. This port is located beneath the area where the swappable band locks into place.
The diagnostic port features six pins that allow a proprietary peripheral cable to connect to it. As of now, this port is only used by the geniuses at the Apple Store, and ships with a cover for protection against dirt, water, and debris. Whether or not that port will ever be used by the mainstream public remains to be seen. It’s possible that approved third-party bands could tap into this port for additional functionality.
As time goes on, we will no doubt learn other interesting facts about the Apple Watch hardware, but this is a good starting point if you’re brand new to the device.
What’s your favorite hardware feature of the Apple Watch? What feature surprised you? Has any feature disappointed you?
Dyson Purifier Cool Autoreact Review: Breathe Easy
Pros
Sleek, premium design
Impressive cooling capabilities
Protects from gases and pollutants in the air
Quiet performance
Cons
No onboard controls
No companion app or other smarts
Our VerdictThe Dyson Purifier Cool Autoreact is very much a premium air purifier, but it does an excellent job at both purifying and cooling the room, and it’s much quieter than alternatives. It does lack smarts though, a surprise at such a premium price.
Dyson has been a long-time player in the fan market, and in recent years, it has begun tackling the issue of air purification. It makes sense – if the fan is already circulating air, why not clean it at the same time – and amidst rising air pollution levels, it’s something consumers are more aware of than ever.
The Dyson Purifier Cool Autoreact looks to both cool and purify the air in your home, with an impressive filtration system and built-in sensors providing real-time data on the air quality in your room. The question is, is it worth its premium $549.99/£499.99 price tag? Well…
Design & buildThe Dyson Purifier Cool Autoreact is very much a Dyson fan, following the same design philosophy as the rest of Dyson’s bladeless fan collection. Its sleek, distinctive design is certainly more premium than most competing fans and air filters, with a white and silver colour scheme that wouldn’t look out of place in an ultra-modern living room.
It’s taller than some might expect, measuring in at just over 1m (1050mm) tall, though the relatively small 220 x 204mm footprint means it doesn’t take up too much space overall.
Lewis Painter / Foundry
Beneath the iconic bladeless loop, you’ll find a familiar silver cylinder with a smattering of small holes that let the Dyson Autoreact draw in air from the environment. This is for more than simply circulating air – it features a large air filter within that’s simple to install – but more on that in a minute.
You’ll find a circular LCD display that sits on the front of the cylindrical base, providing at-a-glance information not only about the current fan speed settings but all kinds of metrics on your current air quality.
Lewis Painter / Foundry
This is particularly important with the Purifier Cool Autoreact as, unlike competing air filters like the Zigma Smart Aerio 300, there’s no smartphone companion app. Instead, you can use the remote control, which magnetically snaps into place on top of the filter, to cycle through various screens to get a breakdown of air quality, humidity and temperature.
Lewis Painter / Foundry
Those that want onboard smarts will have to opt for the (even more premium) $519.99/£549.99 Dyson HEPA Purifier Cool Formaldehyde Purifying Fan.
The issue is that, much like with other Dyson fans, the design comes first – and that means there’s a lack of onboard controls. There’s a power button, but that’s about it. Practically every single function has to be enabled via the remote, and if you lose it, you’ll lose access to most of the functionality on offer. Buttons to control oscillation and rotation would’ve been nice, at the very least.
Lewis Painter / Foundry
Features & performanceAs such, the Dyson Purifier Cool Autoreact does a very good job of cooling the air in the room. It does this using Dyson’s patented air multiplier technology to funnel air in front of the fan for a consistent breeze, and with 10 fan speeds to choose from, it ranges from a gentle breeze to a powerful stream of cooled air. The airflow is relatively narrow too, meaning it won’t blow nearby papers out of the way if it’s pointing at you.
It’s not quite as intense as a regular desk fan at maximum speed, but it’s more comfortable for all-day use.
Of course, it’s not just about cooling down – though that is a very handy feature during hot, sticky days. The key feature of the Dyson is its air purifying capabilities, and more specifically, the ability to automatically ramp up or down depending on the current air quality levels in your room.
It sports a replaceable glass fibre HEPA H13 filter that, combined with Dyson’s tech, can filter gases including VOCs and smelly odours from the air, as well as 99.95% of particles as small as 0.1 microns. It’s not just the filter that’s designed to the HEPA H13 standard either; the whole chassis meets the standard to keep trapped pollutants within, stopping them from releasing back into the air over time.
Dyson
It’ll switch the on-screen information between PM 2.5, PM 10, VOC and NO2 depending on what’s detected in the air, always giving you key information at a glance. The air quality levels can be displayed in the form of a colourful graph or simply by numbers – I prefer the latter to see exactly how good or bad the air quality is in the room, but each to their own.
What differentiates the Dyson Purifier Cool Autoreact from other air purifiers in the market is the company’s air multiplier technology, which helps create circulation in the room and direct pollutants in the air back toward the filter for better performance. In fact, it’s able to generate up to 290 litres of purified air per second, making it ideal for purifying both small and large rooms fairly quickly.
Lewis Painter / Foundry
You can either set the Autoreact to, well, automatically react to pollutants in the air, but you can also overwrite it with your choice of fan speed. The more powerful the fan the quicker it’ll clean the air, but the airflow will also be much more powerful and potentially disturbing depending on what you’re doing, though there’s a diffused mode that’ll divert the air to the rear of the fan if needed.
Despite the combination of air purification and cooling, Dyson has somehow also made the Dyson Purifier Cool AutoReact 20% quieter than its predecessor, and that’s immediately noticeable in use. Even at higher fan speeds, I never felt the need to turn up the TV to drown out the hum as I did with cheaper air purifiers I’ve tested.
That’s particularly useful when used at night in conjunction with the dedicated night mode, providing a gentle breeze with no disturbance to your sleep. It’ll also turn itself off after a predetermined amount of time – got to keep those energy bills down, right?
Lewis Painter / Foundry
PricingIf you’re tempted, you can buy the Dyson Purifier Cool Autoreact from Dyson itself alongside key retailers including Best Buy in the US and John Lewis in the UK. To see how it compares to the competition, take a look at our selection of the best fans.
VerdictThe Dyson Purifier Cool Autoreact is a high-end purifier/fan combo, and the price tag reflects it. If you’re looking to simply purify your air on a budget, the Dyson probably isn’t for you – but if you’re looking for a high-performance purifier that not only performs exceptionally well but looks fashionable, it becomes a much more appealing option.
Its air multiplier technology not only provides a cooling breeze, but it helps direct pollutants in the air back to the purifier to keep the air in the room nice and clean. Bonus points go to Dyson for noise levels too, with notably quieter performance overall compared to cheaper air purifiers.
The only frustrations are with the controls; it relies almost entirely on a rather small remote, and with no onboard controls or smartphone app compatibility, you’ll lose access to lots of functionality if you lose it.
