Suggested January 2024 Fix: Laptop Won’t Connect To Wi

You’ve set your home and office devices to automatically connect with your Wi-Fi once they enter its range. When you walk into your network’s range, you notice that the Network icon in the taskbar says you’re not connected to any network. If you’re wondering why your laptop won’t connect to Wi-Fi, we have you covered.

The issue could be either with your router/modem or your laptop. Before you troubleshoot, see if you can connect to the Wi-Fi using any other devices. This will help you identify which device requires troubleshooting. If you can’t connect to Wi-Fi using other devices too, the issue is probably with the router/modem. If you can connect using other devices, however, the issue could be with your laptop.

Check If Wi-Fi is Enabled

Select the Network button at the bottom right of the screen in the taskbar.

Make sure that Wi-Fi is highlighted in blue and that Airplane Mode is not.

If Wi-Fi is enabled and you’re able to connect to your network, but still don’t have internet access:

Select the Wi-Fi network, select Disconnect, and then Connect again.

Laptops also have a Wi-Fi switch that can enable/disable wireless connections. Make sure this switch is toggled on.

    Forget Your Network and Renew

      Select Manage known networks.

You’ll see the WiFi networks that you’ve connected your PC to in the past listed here. Select the network that you’re facing an issue with, and select Forget.

Next, scan for WiFi networks in the range and connect to the network like you normally would.

          Run the Network Troubleshooter

You can use the Network troubleshooter to check why your laptop won’t connect to Wi-Fi.

Scroll down and select Network troubleshooter from the Advanced network settings section.

Follow the troubleshooter’s steps and see if it can identify and fix the problem automatically.

Restart Your Modem, Router, and Laptop

Restarting the router and modem helps establish a new connection with your ISP and can resolve Wi-Fi connection issues.

Disconnect the cables from the router as well as the modem.

Let the router and modem remain switched off for 60 seconds.

Reconnect your modem to the power source (not your router). When you plug in the modem, the LED indicators should start blinking.

Give your modem 60 seconds and then plug in the router to the power source.

Reconnect your laptop to the network. If your laptop won’t connect to Wi-Fi after restarting the router and the modem, restart the laptop and see if that helps.

                Update or Reinstall Wi-Fi Driver

An outdated or corrupt Wi-Fi driver or a conflict between the Wi-Fi driver and other devices can result in interruptions. If your laptop won’t connect to Wi-Fi, try updating or reinstalling the Wi-Fi driver to see if that helps.

Check the latest driver version available on the manufacturer’s website. If the installed drivers are not the latest version, download the newer version from the manufacturer’s website.

Press Win + R, type chúng tôi , and press Enter to launch the Device Manager.

Locate Network Adapters from the list and expand the list of adapters by selecting the arrow at the left.

When asked, select Browse my computer for drivers.

Select the location where you saved the drivers downloaded from the manufacturer’s website and complete the installation.

However, if you’re already on the latest version, try reinstalling the driver.

You’ll see a warning pop up. Select Uninstall to continue.

Next, select View from the top ribbon and select Scan for hardware changes.

This should reinstall the driver. Try reconnecting to your Wi-Fi network and see if it works.

                      Execute Network Commands

If your laptop still won’t connect to Wi-Fi, try running network commands for resetting the TCP/IP stack, flushing and resetting the DNS cache, and releasing and renewing the IP address.

Press Win + R, type cmd, and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to launch an elevated Command Prompt.

Run the following commands one by one (i.e., press Enter after typing each command):

                      netsh winsock reset

                      netsh int ip reset

                      ipconfig /release

                      ipconfig /renew

                      ipconfig /flushdns

Check Wireless Mode for Wi-Fi Driver

You can try adjusting the Wi-Fi adapter’s default settings to fix the problem. Specifically, you may need to change the Wireless Mode setting on your Wi-Fi adapter if your laptop won’t connect to Wi-Fi.

First, check the network mode you’re using. If you don’t know which mode your router is using, access the router firmware and check the wireless mode. However, to do this, you’ll need another device that is able to connect to the network.

On the router, you’ll generally find the wireless mode somewhere on the main page, but different manufacturers have a different interface.

Switch to the Advanced tab, select the Wireless Mode property, and use the dropdown list on the right to select the appropriate wireless mode (as per what you saw in the router firmware).

Select OK to save changes and exit.

                          Network Reset

If none of the solutions work, try to reset your network as a last resort. Network reset can also help resolve issues that result from upgrading to a newer Windows 10 version. It uninstalls all network adapters from your PC. When you reboot your PC, all adapters are reinstalled with their default settings.

However, network reset can only be used on Windows 10 v1607 and later, so check your Windows version to make sure that a network reset is an option for you.

Select Reset now on the next screen and then select Yes to confirm.

Let the PC restart and see if your laptop now connects to Wi-Fi.

                            Outdated Firmware

                            Network Outages

                            Faulty Or Loose Cables

                            Incorrect Login Details

                            Interference From Other Devices

                            Technical Issue

Now, let’s take a look at the fixes that are discussed below.

Performing those will help you in bringing back the seamless streaming experience on your ONN TV once again.

When ONN Roku Tv is not connecting to Wi-Fi, Power cycle both the TV and the router.

It can fix minor bugs and glitches causing the issue.

You will have to unplug it from the power outlet and then plug it back.

Wait for a couple of minutes before you start booting it up again.

After you have done this, connect to the Wi-Fi again, and if it doesn’t work, power cycling your router is the next thing that can be done.

To do so, unplug it from the power outlet and then plug it back.

Restarting the router can fix connectivity issues when the ONN TV cannot connect to the Wi-Fi.

For rebooting your router, you need to unplug the router from the power source for around 30 seconds and then plug it in.

After doing this, connect your ONN TV again and see whether the issue has been resolved. If the Onn Roku TV is not connecting to Wi-Fi, see if there is any loose connection.

ONN TV won’t connect to Wi-Fi if there is any loose connection. Reinserting all the cables is a good way to know whether they are connected properly.

Look for damaged or loose cables and also check for the connections on the router.

Go for a wired connection if still, the connection issue persists.

If the TV fails to connect to the Wi-Fi due to weak signals or any other issues, then connecting through ethernet can possibly work out.

Look for an ethernet cable and first connect it to the router and then connect it to the TV.

After doing this, check whether the internet connection is working properly.

Reconnecting the Wi-Fi on your ONN TV can be helpful in troubleshooting Wi-Fi connectivity issues.

The reconnection will help in resolving minor connectivity issues or glitches that prevent the TV from establishing a stable connection.

This quick step will resolve minor connectivity issues; to do this, follow the steps that are outlined below:

First, go to the Settings menu on your ONN TV.

                            Select Network.

Next, select Wireless and then Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.

When prompted, enter your password and then try connecting again.

After you are done with the above-mentioned steps, check whether the connectivity issue still persists. If the issue persists, connect to your Wi-Fi manually.

If you connect to the Wi-Fi network manually, then you will get more control over the connection process and will be able to bypass the connectivity problems.

This is particularly helpful if your TV has problems connecting automatically to the network.

This is what you can do:

After turning on the TV, press the home button on the TV.

You will soon be able to see the Menu. Select Settings from the menu.

Navigate to the Network and Internet and then select the Wi-Fi option.

From the displayed list, select your preferred internet connection and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.

If the network subscription expires, it results in the loss of internet access.

The expired subscription will prevent your ONN TV from connecting to the internet.

So, to resolve Wi-Fi connectivity issues due to an expired network subscription, you need to renew or update your subscription.

If required, call the network service provider to restore internet access and also enable the TV to connect to the network once again. If the issue persists, enable the network pings.

If the Network pings are disabled, then you can encounter issues with your ONN TV, as this feature automatically connects with your Wi-Fi.

By enabling network pings, your ONN TV will successfully get connected with other devices on the network.

It will also help in monitoring and assessing the behavior of your ONN TV’s network connection.

This is how it can be done:

Turn on your ONN TV and press the Home option five times.

Also, press the Fast Forward button once.

Next, press the Play and the Rewind button once.

Press the forward button once to access the System Operations Menu.

Search for the “Disable Network Pings” option and enable the option.

After performing these steps, check whether your ONN TV gets connected to the Wi-Fi automatically. If the issue persists, factory reset the TV.

Performing a factory reset on your ONN TV can be helpful in troubleshooting the Wi-Fi connection issue.

A factory reset restores the TV to its original settings and helps in clearing out the software glitches that are preventing the TV from being connected to the Wi-Fi.

A fresh start after a factory reset will reset the TV’s software and establish a fresh connection with the Wi-Fi network.

Perform the steps for doing a factory reset:

First, turn on the TV and press the home button to open the Menu.

                            Now, select Settings.

Scroll down to the System option and then open Advanced Settings.

Finally, select Factory reset and wait for the process to get over.

If none of the troubleshooting steps worked in your favor, contact the official ONN support for further assistance.

Their team of experts will be a great source of help in this case.

HP laptop won’t turn on or charge

If your HP laptop is not turning on or charging, the following methods will help you fix the issue.

                            Check the power source

                            Inspect the cable

Inspect the charging port for damages

                            Remove the battery

                            Remove all connected devices

                            Contact the HP support

Let’s get into the details of each method and fix the issue.

                            1] Check the power source

If there is an issue with the power source or the cable is not plugged in correctly, your laptop will not charge. You need to check if the power source is working properly by trying the power source to charge another device. If not, change the power source and see if it helps.

                            2] Inspect the cable

The damage to the power cables can also make the laptop not charge. Inspect the cable carefully to find any damages or breaks on it. If you find any damage, replace the cable with a new cable that is suitable for your HP laptop. Third-party cables that come at a cheaper price may not be the best option if you are looking to replace your old power cable.

3] Inspect the charging port for damages

We connect the power cord to the charging port to charge a laptop. It is common that dust accumulates over time in the charging port, or some other external damage might occur. You need to make sure the charging port is alright without any damages or disturbances that hinder its performance. You need to carefully clean the charging port to remove dust. Cleaning it with a cloth or cotton swab that can leave its fiber may not be a good idea. You need to clean it with something that doesn’t leave traces of it like cleaning brushes, etc.

                            4] Remove the battery

Most HP laptops come with removable batteries. We can remove them and put them back in easily without any professional interference. Remove the battery from your HP laptop if it is easily removable and clean it. Clean the battery holding place of the laptop too gently. Then, put the battery back in and see if it helps in charging or turning on the HP laptop.

                            5] Remove all connected devices

Sometimes, the devices like external hard drives can interfere with the booting of laptops. You need to remove all those connected devices and try turning on the HP laptop. If the laptop is not turning on due to those external devices, it will turn on now without any issue.

                            6] Contact the HP support

If none of the above methods, helped you fix the issue, you need to contact HP support on its official website in your country. You can also find the HP service center’s address on their official website and can contact them to fix the problem for you professionally.

These are the different methods you can use when the HP laptop won’t charge or turn on.

Why is my laptop plugged in and not charging and not turning on?

When your laptop is plugged in and not charging or turning on, it might be due to issues with the power supply, power cord, or charging port. If you are using the laptop for many years, there are chances that the battery is dead which will be confirmed by the support center of your laptop brand. If there are issues at the circuit level of the laptop, you might also face this issue.

How do I force my HP laptop to turn on?

You can force-turn-on the HP laptop by unplugging the charging adapter and holding the power button for 15-20 seconds. Then, reconnect the adapter to your HP laptop and press the power button normally as you would do to turn it on. This should work. If not, there might be an issue with the battery or something internally that needs professional intervention.

There are a few things you can do to find those interfering items. Once found, you can have those items removed or stopped from running on your Mac.

These items could be anything on your machine. It could be a print job stuck in the queue, a Bluetooth device constantly trying to wake up your machine, or a misconfigured file.

Regardless, there are methods to overcome the issue and put your Mac into sleep mode successfully.

Check The Energy Settings On Your Mac

The energy settings pane is what allows you to create schedules as to when and when not your Mac can go into sleep mode. You might want to check these settings and verify that there’s no option preventing your machine from going to sleep.

Find Apps That Prevent Mac Sleep

If you think it’s an app that’s preventing your Mac from sleeping, your Mac provides you with a method to find these apps. Once you have found the apps causing the issue, you can then kill their processes or force quit them to then put your Mac to sleep.

A new column will be added to the utility. This column should tell you if a process is preventing the sleep mode. The column should say Yes for all the processes causing the issue. If it says No, that process is fine and isn’t causing any issue.

Be cautious what processes you force quit as you may be working on some of these and you may have your unsaved work in them. Be sure to save your work before you close anything.

Sometimes you already know the app that’s preventing the sleep mode but the app doesn’t seem to close normally. In that case, you can force close it.

Press Command + Option + Esc on your keyboard.

The app will be forcibly closed.

Disable Bluetooth Wake Up On Mac

One of the features your Mac comes equipped with is the ability to wake up your machine from a Bluetooth-enabled device. This sometimes could cause issues when you want to put your machine to sleep.

You can disable the option, though, as the following.

Now the option is disabled, your Bluetooth devices won’t be able to wake up your Mac and you shouldn’t have any issues keeping your Mac in sleep mode.

                            Clear The Printing Queue

One of the known causes of when your Mac won’t sleep is having your print jobs stuck on your machine. You may have tried printing something but that didn’t go well and now you have a pile of print jobs stuck in a queue.

Clearing these jobs should allow you to put your Mac to sleep.

Clear the stuck print jobs you have on the following screen.

Try putting your Mac into sleep mode after clearing the print jobs.

Your printers are no longer shared and you won’t be able to access them from other machines. Should you ever want the functionality back, just turn on the option you disabled above.

                            Reset NVRAM On Your Mac

Resetting NVRAM might help you fix when your Mac won’t sleep and it’s a pretty easy thing to do.

                            Turn off your Mac.

Boot up your Mac and hold down Option + Command + P + R keys simultaneously. Let go of the keys after about 20 seconds.

Photos Won’t Upload To Icloud? Here’s How To Fix It

iCloud is one of the popular cloud storage services for storing your files, mostly used by Apple users. The most striking feature about iCloud is its compatibility with all platforms. However, sometimes, you may encounter an issue when trying to upload your photos to iCloud.

It could be terrifying if you ever lost your images because they weren’t syncing or uploading to iCloud. For various reasons, such problems arise if you are not connected to the internet or trying to upload a picture while you are on low power mode.

In this article, I have compiled a list of solutions to solve this issue of photos not uploading to iCloud. So, without further ado, let’s get started.

Reasons Behind Your Photos Not Uploading to iCloud

Your photos might fail to upload to iCloud due to various causes. Here I’ve compiled the most common causes.

Unstable Internet Connection: Your internet connection plays a big role while uploading your photos on iCloud. If you have an unstable internet connection, there’s a high chance your photos will take longer to upload or might fail in the middle.

Low iCloud storage: Another common cause your photos won’t upload would be your device running out of iCloud storage.

Low battery: If you are trying to upload your pictures when you are running out of battery, in that case, your iCloud may pause the uploading task.

iCloud server down: Photos won’t upload to iCloud not just because of your device or internet connection issues. Problems like this can occue due to an iCloud server malfunction also.

Enabled low power mode: If you have enabled this feature on your device, then it will restrict most background activities to save the battery, stopping the iCloud from functioning properly.

How to Fix Photos Not Uploading to iCloud

Once you know why your photos are not uploading to iCloud, let’s see what you can do to fix it in more detail.

                            Check Your Internet Connection

If your device is not connected to the Internet, you won’t be able to upload the pictures on iCloud. A stable and fast internet connection can help you quickly upload your pictures to iCloud.

If you are using cellular data to upload, make sure to buy a data plan, as uploading on iCloud can consume more data. You can check your internet speed on different websites or apps available on the Internet.

                            Connect the Charger

Uploading on iCloud consumes more battery. So, if you are low on battery, it will auto-pause such activity, which can be another reason your photos are not uploading. Therefore, connecting the charger or letting your device have at least 50% battery can fix such issues.

                            Disable Low Power Mode

It’s always not necessary to enable low power mode manually as it restricts many apps from functioning properly in the background, which can lead to problems like this. If you have enabled this feature, your photos might fail to upload on iCloud.

Your device will send you notifications if you are below 20% of the battery. You can enable it at that time if you wish to. Here’s how you can disable the low power mode.

Alternatively, you can also disable from the device setting.

Grant Permission to Upload on iCloud

Your files won’t upload to iCloud unless you give permission. So, make sure to check the settings and enable it to upload your photos on iCloud. You can go to iCloud settings by following the given steps.

                            Check Your iCloud Storage

If you grant all the necessary permission but are still unable to upload your pictures, then it can be due to a lack of iCloud storage. In this case, you can either buy iCloud storage, clear the storage or use third-party apps to upload your pictures. Thus, first checking the iCloud is necessary.

                            Check Your Device Storage

Just like you need to have enough iCloud storage, it is also necessary to have enough storage on your device to upload on iCloud. Therefore, you also need to keep an eye on your device storage. If you have limited storage, then deleting unused apps or unwanted files can help to free some space. Here’s how you can check your device storage.

                            Restart Your Device

Restarting the device is also one of the easiest activities you can do to fix your photos not uploading to iCloud. If your device has some glitches, it will clear out the problem. Not just that, Restarting can also improve your device’s performance by starting it fresh and clearing the temporary data in the memory. To restart your device, follow the given instructions.
