Suggested January 2024 Four Times Nfts Proved To Be Good For The Environment

When it comes to the environment, NFTs have a bad reputation — much of it undeserved. At the height of the “NFTs harm the environment” frenzy in mid-2023, wildly uncontextualized claims about single blockchain transactions consuming as much energy as a mid-sized house does in three days proliferated across the Twitter-sphere.

Two things have slowly but steadily begun to dislodge such misconceptions. The first is a growing understanding of blockchain technology and where various chains’ energy needs fit into the broader picture of human endeavors that require industry. The second is the Ethereum merge, which saw the second-largest blockchain reduce its energy consumption by an astounding 99.5 percent in September.

But this is just one side of the coin. Web3 enthusiasts aren’t just doing their best to mitigate blockchain’s negative impact on the environment; they’re actively using NFTs to benefit and better it. Here are four examples of when NFTs helped give the planet (and the animals living on it) a win.

WWF drops NFT collection to fund conversation efforts

In November 2023, Germany’s World Wildlife Foundation dropped Non-Fungible Animals, its NFT collection aimed at raising money to help keep acutely endangered species from going extinct. The collection highlights ten endangered species, including the Amur tiger, giant ibis, mountain gorilla, Persian leopard, and the vaquita, the smallest whale species in the world.

Source: WWF

Released on the Polygon blockchain, the WWF set the number of editions for each animal’s NFT at the approximate number of each species that still exist in the wild. For the vaquita, for example, that number is just 22. A different artist created each animal’s NFT, and the collection features work by Anna Rupprecht, Etienne Kiefer, Andres Ribon, Bosslogic, and more. So far, the organization has raised over €270,000 from the drop. While some of the collection’s NFTs (like the vaquita) are sold out, several have editions left to buy, so don’t miss out on the chance to help an endangered species return from the brink.

Combatting land degradation in Africa

In the summer of 2023, Kaloscope metaverse platform founder Kirck Allen founded The Great NFTrees project to help fight against land degradation on the African continent. When its initial collection launches, the project will allow users to purchase tree NFTs connected to geo-tagged locations of real trees planted in Africa’s Great Green Wall. The wall is the world’s largest carbon capture project and aims to grow one trillion trees across an 8,000 km stretch of land in Africa.

Ninety percent of revenue from The Great NFTrees drop, scheduled to go live in 2023, will go toward the Great Green Wall project. The remaining 10 percent will be directed to covering administrative costs. Kaleidoscope plans on letting collectors purchase the NFTs with a variety of cryptocurrencies.

Bringing animals back from extinction

In the summer of 2023, Spix’s Macaw became the first species to go “unextinct.” After disappearing from the wild and spending 22 years in captivity being rehabilitated, a group of the iconic blue birds was released into the forests of Bahia state, Brazil, on June 11. Celebrating this significant moment in animal conservation, photographer Tim Flach collaborated with Atlas Labs and the Association for the Conservation of Threatened Parrots (ACTP) for his inaugural NFT project: Project Unextinct — a collection of images of Spix’s Macaw.

In support of the first reintroduction of a bird species that is extinct in the wild, I will be releasing a series of NFTs dropping on Nifty Gateway on June 11th. Spix’s Macaws will finally be coming home to Brazil. @niftygateway @atlaslabs_ @actparrots @ParrotProtect chúng tôi Tim Flach (@TimFlach) June 7, 2023

Flach and Atlas Labs dropped the collection on Nifty Gateway. Three of the six images were 1/1 NFTs that sold for over $22,000 each, with two more editions of ten selling for $300 and $450 each. One edition of 25 photography NFT remains available in the collection at $999 a piece, so if you’re looking to make a positive difference in the world through Web3, now’s a great time to do it.

Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo launches NFT collection

In June 2023, the Australia Zoo partnered with green NFT startup Meadow Labs to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Steve Irwin-founded conservation organization Wildlife Warriors with an NFT drop.

With prices starting at $50 AUD ($36.13 USD), the Australia Zoo released 2,000 Warrior Crocs tokens that resembled members of the Irwin family in some way. Speaking with nft now, Meadow Labs co-founder and CEO Martin Kelly said that the genesis for the project “came from wanting to use NFTs for good.” Highlighting this desire is the fact that the drop took place on the world’s first carbon-negative blockchain, Algorand. Meadow Labs pledged 100 percent of primary sales toward funding Wildlife Warriors and The Australia Zoo. The drop is the first of a planned five-part NFT animal collectibles series which includes koalas, echidnas, turtles, and wombats.

Mate Review: A Lightweight Desktop Environment For The Nostalgic

MATE is one of the great Linux Desktop Environments for those who are looking for something very traditional and nostalgic. It is the living descendant of one of the most popular Linux desktops, GNOME 2, and has a classic feel and approach. In this MATE review, we’ll look at the user interface, performance, and some notable features, and we’ll cover who should try MATE.

MATE First Impressions

MATE feels classic when you first boot up. This makes sense, as MATE is a fork and continuation of GNOME 2, one of the most beloved Linux desktops of all time. MATE follows traditional desktop paradigms and gives you a great-looking and great-feeling interface. MATE is incredibly sharp out of the box with a great theme and icon pack. The feel is great as well, with very minimal resource usage and a fast, snappy interface. Things run well, and MATE would be a great choice for a lower-end system or those looking to remain efficient on system resources.

User Experience

MATE feels like a special mix of a classic, traditional desktop with a distinct Linux twist on it. In a more classic MATE implementation, there’s a menu in the upper left with a categorized list of all your applications, along with a search function. In the upper right there’s a nice-looking system tray with notifications, networking, and sound and time.

In the bottom left there’s a “Show Desktop” button that comes in handy for heavy multitaskers or those who like to use desktop folders and icons. There’s also a trash icon in the bottom right. Everything you’ll need is available in the menu in the upper left. It’s a powerful menu that looks through not only application names but also application descriptions.

The basic MATE menu. Note that there’s still a powerful search function.

The Caja File Manager

The Caja File Manager is one of the key applications in the MATE desktop. It’s a great file manager that has a lot of functionality packed into it. Out of the box, it supports several different side panes, including the stock places menu, a tree view, directory history, and directory information. Additionally, there’s an easy button for zooming out to the computer:/// location to see all available disks, drives, and file systems available.

The main screen of Caja. In the upper left, you can see that “Places” dropdown menu. That’s where you can choose other side panes. The convenient button for the computer:/// location is just to the left of the zoom out button.

The Pluma Text Editor

The Pluma Text Editor is a great fork of Gedit that adds some user friendliness. For one, all of the options of saving, opening new files, and find or find-and-replace are all in a top bar rather than hidden behind a hamburger menu. Otherwise, Pluma is a very simple and easy-to-use text editor that just gets out of your way while still being simple to use.

Pluma has all kinds of plugins and settings for each different language you might want to use, and it will auto detect based on syntax and path.

The MATE Search Tool

The MATE Search Tool is a really great way to look through all of your files in your system. It’s a lot like Catfish in Xfce but with some additional options available. You can search for files by name, contents, date modified, owner, group, size, and regular expression pattern match in the name. It’s a great way to work with files in your system, and I highly recommend it if you do a lot of work with files.

Searching for all files that contain “Configuration”.

MATE is not as customizable as something as KDE Plasma, but you can change quite a bit. You can change menu icons, panel layout, themes and appearance, and even add and remove panels and docks. One cool thing about MATE is that you can pick and choose the different pieces of different themes and stitch them together to make a custom theme for exactly what you want. Additionally, you can customize the workflow of MATE, adding new workspaces. Overall, MATE is reasonably customizable, so I would recommend it for light tinkerers in this regard.

Ubuntu MATE with Plank instead of a bottom panel.Creating a custom theme

MATE has excellent performance. A fresh boot of Ubuntu MATE 20.04 uses 478 MB RAM and about 1% CPU to keep things running. That’s very minimal, especially considering the fully-featured desktop that you’re using. MATE will run well on quite old systems with little RAM and anemic CPUs.

MATE feels quite snappy to use. Applications open quickly, workspaces switch without delay, and windows snap readily when tiled to sides and corners. Given that it closely follows traditional desktop paradigms, it feels like a perfect fit for an older system that’s going for a more retro vibe or somebody who really feels comfortable in an older paradigm.

The Cons of MATE

Given that there are several desktops that are forks of GNOME 2, MATE does little to stand out. That makes sense, especially when you hear that some of the creators and maintainers think of it as another desktop for Linux. MATE feels like it wants to be Cinnamon, but has the simplicity of Xfce, and fails to be better than either of those. The simplicity, styling, and legacy of MATE will appeal to those who want to use GNOME 2, but for those who want a fully-featured desktop that’s still just as efficient as MATE, Cinnamon may be a better option.

Where to Experience MATE Who Should Use MATE

Anybody looking for the “good old days” of GNOME 2 should use MATE. It’s a great DE for experienced users who used GNOME 2 and fell in love with it or enjoyed the workflow, and it’s a great DE for new users to experience a classic GNOME workflow as opposed to the vertical workspaces and no panel in GNOME Shell.

Writing Good Copy: Let Keywords Be Your Guide

Whenever I’m starting a new SEO campaign, I always begin with a heart dose of Keyword Research. Well before you touch any Meta data or link building, you need to know what keywords you’re website is going for.

This is hardly a new concept, as many SEO pros will tell you that starting a campaign with Keyword Research is a “Best Practice”. But many times some of the hidden gems of keyword research go unnoticed. A carefully chosen select set of keywords is the fuel for a well structured, effective SEO campaign. There are many posts that help you perform keyword research, but this post is focused on creating good copy following this initial study. Your list of targeted words and phrases helps you find competitors, submit to relevant directories, target the right anchor text, define meta data and, most notably create good copy.

Focus, Focus, Focus

Whether your next SEO project is a blog, an online store, or company homepage, the engines want to see a consistent expertise before they give you high ranking SERP’s. This is why you’ll be glad you spent more than five minutes on Google’s Keyword Suggest tool when coming up with your set of keywords and long-tail phrases.

When creating your keyword list, make sure these are terms with which you can create interesting copy. By that I mean, simply creating the list isn’t enough — it must be at top of mind each time you whip up an article marketing piece, blog post (guest or otherwise), and/or product description. Writing post after post on the same subjects might get difficult, but that’s for another discussion.

I Have My List, Now What?

Put it to the test! After you’ve used your keyword set to write copy and create content on your site, see if you’re on the right track. There are a number of tools out there that help you find keywords for your site, but in order to test your work, you need to flip the test around. See if the search engines know what your terms are based on your copywriting with these three tools (if you know more, let me know!):

Google Adwords’ Keyword Suggest: Insert your website in the “Website” box and see if the terms returned match your keyword list.

SEOmoz Term Extractor: This tool identifies what terms the search engines see when they crawl your page. SEOmoz also has some helpful hints to help you use this information to better your site.

SEOmoz Term Target: Input a series of your targeted keywords and receive a grade as well as some helpful insight into why your site scored the way it did.

Can My Vr Game Be A Good Workout?

What about playing video games to get fit? Experts say this is true and that virtual reality (VR) technology is bringing about a whole new way of working out.

We all know that exercise is good for our health and can help us look and feel our best, but it’s easy to put off going to the gym to lift weights or putting on your running shoes. Virtual reality (VR) fitness could be the answer for people who have never been active or played sports as kids but have yet to find a fitness program that works and is fun.

If you’ve ever had trouble getting yourself to go for a run or hop on an indoor bike, here are the best virtual reality (VR) fitness apps to help you work out virtually and have fun while doing it.

What Is VR Fitness?

In video games, the person playing uses a portable controller to tell their in-game avatar what to do. In virtual reality fitness, the actions of your virtual persona depend on how your body moves. For a few seconds or minutes, you might be on your feet, jumping over laser beams, squatting and lunging to the side while riding a virtual reality roller coaster, or swinging your arms wildly while fighting a monster with a sword.

Who Would Virtual Reality Exercise Help the Most? Is There Anyone WhoShouldn’t DoIt?

VR workouts might be fun for people who like more interactive or virtual workouts. Virtual reality games and programs can be a great way to get people who don’t usually exercise to start, especially if they find it more fun than going to the gym.

Even people who hate being active might burn calories while playing this game.

Remember, though, how fit and mobile you are right now. Before you start an exercise routine, talk to your doctor if you have a condition or injury that might make it hard for you to exercise safely. In the same way, if you don’t do much physical activity, it’s probably best to start any game you want to play on the “easy” setting.

Top 4 VR Games for Workout 1. Liteboxer VR

Liteboxer VR is unique because it is the first virtual reality (VR) fitness platform that lets you train with real coaches. Liteboxer’s nine world-class trainers are more inspiring, informative, and helpful than working alone or with other virtual reality fitness apps that use avatars or fake instructors.

Your exercise score is a combination of correct hits, streaks, and force, and you can see your progress in different ways over seven days or thirty days.

Liteboxer VR Fitness can be used for free, or you can pay for it. The paid version has more than 300 trainer-led classes and the top 40 songs from the app’s library, but the free version only has 35.

2. FitXR App

The best virtual reality (VR) fitness game is the FitXR app. This inspiring training software for VR combines the realism of VR with challenging exercises for the whole body that experts in the field made. The app has workouts for high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and other types of exercise, like boxing and dance, so that users can put together a complete fitness plan.

FitXR’s fitness courses are so fun that they’re like going to a party while you work out. There are hundreds of courses to choose from, and new ones are added every week. Boxing and HIIT exercises are some of the best. You can make your Workout fit your needs by choosing from different virtual studio settings. Some high-intensity interval training sessions, for example, take place in a beautiful studio on a clifftop, adding to the aesthetic pleasure of punching, dodging, and smashing your way through a series of full-body exercises.

3. Supernatural App

Supernatural is the best virtual reality (VR) fitness software you can get. This app is your best bet after FitXR if you want well-designed VR workouts that are also very effective. There are more than 500 different workouts to choose from, and you can do them in many realistic virtual places worldwide. There are many challenges to choose from, and virtual coaches can help you get the most out of your workouts. Users can choose from several challenging exercises and connect with other fitness fans through different social media sites.

Music and movement are used in supernatural exercises. You can choose a VR boxing workout, a VR yoga session, a VR meditation session, or a VR stretching session in Supernatural. Flow is a less gentle choice, but boxing is more extreme.

Flow courses, unique to Supernatural, involve complicated rhythmic movements. As you lunge, swing, and swipe to the music, your heart rate will go up and burn calories.

4. The OhShape App

OhShape is not a virtual reality fitness app, but it will keep your blood pumping and your body moving. The game is based on the Japanese TV show Hole in the Wall, and players must punch, dodge, and weave through holes in the Wall as the music gets faster and faster. More points are given for moving faster and more accurately.

If you’ve been keeping up with virtual reality, you know that Oculus has been promising for the past decade that it’s on the cusp of bringing VR to the masses. So, what’s different today? To put it simply, this is the issue of access.

What Are The Four Stages Of Copd And The Gold System For Grading?

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, also known as COPD, is a severe lung condition that worsens over time and makes breathing difficult. Because it deteriorates with time, the signs and symptoms also become more severe as time goes on.

COPD is most often caused by smoking, but environmental factors like air pollution, certain respiratory infections, and other diseases also cause it. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) shows itself in three main ways: shortness of breath, wheezing, and a persistent cough.

In this blog, we will talk about COPD’s different stages and the GOLD grading system.

The Four Stages of COPD

Four distinct stages can be identified in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). When determining a person’s stage, doctors look at their symptoms and how well their lungs function.

The first stage of COPD is mild

You might have mild symptoms like a persistent cough, tightness in your chest, and trouble breathing after working out. You may also notice that your mucus production increases and that you can’t do much physical activity.

At this point in the disease, the main goal of treatment is to make the symptoms less harmful and stop the disease from getting worse. This can be done by changing one’s lifestyle, like quitting smoking and avoiding second-hand smoke and other environmental irritants.

Bronchodilators and inhaled steroids are two types of drugs that can be used to treat COPD to relieve symptoms and improve lung function.

The second stage of COPD is moderate

At this point, your symptoms will become more noticeable. For example, you will feel short of breath more often, and the amount of mucus you make will go up. On top of that, you might feel more tired and have coughing fits.

As the disease worsens, you may have trouble doing the most basic tasks regularly. At this stage, the treatment includes changes to the patient’s way of life, medicine, and oxygen therapy.

The third stage of COPD is severe

At this point, your symptoms will worsen and make it hard for you to do anything. You may have a persistent cough that produces mucus, trouble breathing, be very tired, and have regular times when your symptoms worsen.

You may also have trouble doing the things you need to do every day to stay alive. At this stage, the treatment usually involves more potent drugs, like long-term oxygen therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation.

The person may also have to go through pulmonary rehabilitation. It is also possible that you will need surgery to help improve your ability to breathe.

The fourth and final stage of COPD is very severe:

Your symptoms will be terrible, and you may need extra oxygen and other treatments to help you breathe. There is also a chance that you will feel exhausted all the time, lose weight, and get sick more often.

At this stage of the disease, most people are treated with a mix of drugs, oxygen therapy, and changes to their way of life.

The GOLD System for Grading

The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease, also known as GOLD, has developed this plan. When it comes to determining how to diagnose and treat COPD, the GOLD grading system is a vital tool that can be utilized.

The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) uses a scoring system from 0 to 4 to categorize patients with COPD into one of four stages: mild, moderate, severe, or extremely severe. A person’s progression through these stages is determined by how effectively his lungs function and how sick he feels.

Using this scoring system, doctors can learn more about a patient’s condition and choose the best course of treatment. In addition, it allows more accurate comparisons between people whose conditions are on different levels of severity. It also lets researchers track how COPD changes in a community over time.

The GOLD system is based on the following factors −

Lung function (measured by a test called spirometry)

Symptoms (such as shortness of breath, wheezing, and coughing)

Quality of life

Risk of exacerbations (periods of worsening symptoms)

Use of medications

The GOLD system for grading has been a beneficial tool for doctors and researchers because it gives a standard, evidence-based way to test and treat COPD.

Treatment Options

COPD can be treated in several ways, and these ways change depending on how bad the disease is. Medicines like bronchodilators, steroids, and antibiotics are often therapy’s first line of defense.

Changing a person’s lifestyle and using these medicines can help manage COPD symptoms. Along with eating well and exercising regularly, quitting smoking is one of the most important things you can do to treat this condition.

In some cases, surgery may be suggested to lessen the effects of COPD on the lungs and airways. Working with a doctor to determine the most effective COPD treatment plan is the best way to do this.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, also known as COPD, is a hazardous lung illness that, over time, worsens and makes breathing harder. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) can be controlled either medically by making adaptations to a patient’s way of life or even surgically, depending on the degree to which the ailment has progressed, and his overall medical condition.

It is essential to have an in-depth understanding of the GOLD grading system and the four stages of COPD. It is possible to differentiate between the four stages by seeing how well a person’s lungs function and how sick he feels at various stages. People who have COPD are placed into one of four categories by the GOLD system according to their score, which can vary from 0 to 4.

Appearing For Ai Interview? Be Prepared For The 4Th Question!

Preparing for an artificial intelligence

1.What would you do if you notice removing certain values in a training dataset causes negative bias?

Generally, artificial intelligence models are prone to producing biased results due to missing/ insufficient data values in the training dataset. This can end up causing the AI model to give inaccurate or biased output. Fortunately, in most of the scenarios, there are ways to fix this issue. The interviewer wants to see if you have adequate knowledge about the same and approaches you shall take if you encounter such issues. This question is an example of gauging the problem-solving ability, critical thinking ability, and knowledge applicability of the applicant.

2. Write a code for ‘xyz’ task

An artificial intelligence job requires proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, AIML, STRIPS, Lisp, Prolog, and Java. So, if the interviewer asks to write a program or programming related questions, they want to check your familiarity with the coding and your comfort with it. Interviewer can also ask if you are acquainted with common AI software platforms like Tensor Flow, Azure Machine Learning, Playment, Salesforce Einstein and others.

3. What’s your experience with AIOps/time forecasting/Robotics?

There are a multitude of career opportunities under artificial intelligence. Hence, there will be several job requirements, roles and responsibilities. The hiring company will want to make sure that a candidate is the best fit for them.  So based on the job vacancy and the company requirement, the hiring team will ask questions about key concepts, projects done, familiarity with technical tools, previous experience (including internships), etc., to access subject and practical level of understanding. Subjective Questions can be: • What is A* Search/ Depth-First Search (DFS)/ uniform cost search algorithm in AI? • What does Stemming & Lemmatization in NLP mean? • State differences between inductive machine learning and deductive machine learning or Overfitting and Underfitting algorithms • What are the characteristics of an expert system? • Importance of Gradient checking • Applications of ‘any AI technology’ in a field • What’s the formula for coefficient for logistic regression?

4. Case-study and scenario questions

This is the most high-order thinking skill level of question that every candidate should expect in an interview. Interviewer will present a typical scenario based on the candidate’s practical experience and theoretical knowledge and ask solutions or approaches that can be taken to solve a problem point. Some examples are: • Show the working of the Minimax algorithm using Tic-Tac-Toe Game. • How does Uber’s surge pricing algorithm work? • How will you design a recommendation engine for a tourist looking for budget cafes in a new city? • What can you do to improve target marketing for a brand which caters to vegan fitness influencers? Whatever shall be the question, the applicants must think calmly about how they use their technical expertise to address the problem and deliver expected results and should be able to explain their thought process behind the chosen approaches.

5. Recent innovations in artificial intelligence and how they can help in boosting the company’s trajectory

There is no doubt that artificial intelligence is bringing disruption and has transformed several industry verticals. With new innovations and products making into headlines, companies will aim to leverage them to maximize their revenue and drive better growth in market dynamics. So, if an interviewer asks such questions, they want to know your interest in joining the company and how well-informed you’re about the current events.
