Google says there’s no limit to how many static HTML pages it can index from one site.

The subject of indexing limits is the focus of the latest installment of Ask Googlebot on YouTube.

Google’s John Mueller answers a question about whether there’s a maximum limit for indexing pages from a single site, and briefly discusses the differences between static and dynamic content.

Does Google Have a Max Limit on Page Indexing For One Site?

No, there is no limit to how many pages Google is capable of indexing from one site.

The question submitted to Google is specific to static pages, but Mueller says the same applies to dynamic pages.

Whether a page is dynamic or static doesn’t matter to Google because it can’t tell the difference.

Sites will sometimes try to disguise dynamic pages as static pages by adding a .html extension, but Mueller says that isn’t necessary.

While there are no limits for indexing, Google will focus its resources where it makes the most sense.

Mueller gives an example that a brand new site with millions of pages likely won’t get all its content indexed right away. That’s because Google doesn’t yet have an idea of what value the site’s content provides to the web.

On the other hand, Google doesn’t have any reservations when it comes to indexing pages from an established site with proven value.

“In short, no, there is no limit. But let’s take a quick moment to cover two related topics. First, static pages versus dynamic pages. When content is made available to search engines they don’t know if it’s from a static page, so a file that was added and has never changed, or if it’s created by something on the server, so a dynamic page. We can’t tell, and it doesn’t matter to search engines either way.

Sometimes site try to make dynamic pages appear to be static pages by adding an HTML extension, but that doesn’t change anything. There’s no need to do that.

The other aspect is a limit for indexing. We don’t have any limits for indexing. However, we do try to focus our resources in places where we think they make sense. With that in mind, our algorithms will generally try to focus indexing on pages that make sense to be indexed.

So if it’s a completely new website we probably won’t go off and index millions of pages. However, if we’ve seen that it’s worthwhile, we’ll be happy to do just that.

What Is Google Photos Storage Limit In 2023 And How To Increase It

Google Photos is one of the best cloud storage services out there. Apple is only now offering the Memories feature with their Photos application while Google has been at it for years. There is a certain fondness and sense of joy that comes with reliving memories that have been securely backed in a reliable cloud storage service. So if you are noticing changes in the storage situation and are concerned about what’s up, here’s everything you need to know about Google Photo’s storage limit in 2023, and if you need to increase it, then how to go about it.  

What is the Google Photos storage limit in 2023? 

According to a new Google Photos Storage Policy, there will be a 15 GB cap on a user’s Google Photos storage for any pictures you may have backed up since June 1, 2023. So any new photos or videos that the user wants to back up will reduce the amount of space available storage inside your Google account. Basically, any photos and videos that you wish to back up will consume space that was previously free and unlimited. 

While this does not change the fact that images and videos will be backed up regardless of their quality, it changes how much space they will consume as we have elaborated in the later section. Images that previously fell in the High-Quality tier will now be called Storage Saver.

It is worth noting that Google resizes an image to 16 MP if they are larger unless you change the settings of the image to reflect otherwise. The same logic applies to videos which are automatically saved at 1080p resolution unless prompted otherwise This renaming of the tier will help the user to understand what Google does to every image as well as video to optimize space in Google Photos. 

While Google has not directly stated why the tech giant is restricting the kind of storage space that used to be available for free. One can only assume that Google needs to generate income and monetize from pre-existing features that millions of users are using. Besides, more users and organizations keep signing up for Google services every day so it’s not viable for Google to give out free cloud storage. Considering the millions of users that Google will onboard in the future and the infrastructural spending that will definitely come, it’s kind of fair that Google wants to charge a minor fee in exchange for its reliable cloud storage. 

In any case, Google is not leaving its users high and dry either. Users have been given 15 GB of storage to ensure that they don’t face any transition pains that are bound to happen if one is a shutterbug. 

How to check if you need more storage for your Google Photos

Google has made provisions to ensure that a user can easily find out how much storage space they have. One can check their personal estimate tracker for information regarding how much storage is being consumed and how much is left. Based on your usage, Google also estimates how many months/years worth of storage will be available depending on your past and current usage of the cloud storage service. Here’s how to find how much storage is left in your Google Photos. 

On the web 

You will now be able to see how your 15 GB is divided across Google Drive storage including Photos. 

On phone 

Open the Google Photos app on your phone and then tap the profile icon at the top-right corner. From the menu that opens, select Manage your Google Account.

Scroll down till you arrive at the Account Storage option. Here, tap the Manage Storage option.

You can check the allocation of space on Google for all your file and photos.  

Which pictures will count towards your Google Photos storage?

Not all the pictures in your Google Photos library will count towards free 15 GB of storage. According to Google, if you have backed up your pictures in Storage saver mode before June 1, 2023, they will qualify for free storage and won’t count towards your account’s 15 GB storage limit. This means that your old photos and videos will not consume any of the 15 GB of storage that has been allocated to your Google account.

However, do keep in mind that pictures of all sizes and resolutions will count as consuming storage if they were saved after June 1, 2023. So whether you’ve set the image quality at Original Storage Saver, or Express, any new pictures you upload to Google Photos will consume space from now on. 

How do you know if you increase your Google Photos storage capacity?

If Google says you have a couple of years or more before you should get additional storage, you can make the most of this 15GB worth of storage for the time being. If this page shows that you don’t have much time left or if your 15GB limit is at bay, you can either opt for Google One or another cloud storage that gives you the right value for money.  

How to increase your Google Photos storage?

Paid plans are the most reliable way to increase your Google Photos storage. There are two categories of storage that you can explore. The first one is Google One which is for personal Google Accounts. The least expensive plan will cost you $19.99 per year or $1.99 per month, switching to this plan will give you access to 100 GB Google Cloud Storage. If your needs are minimal and you’re looking for an upgrade that will sustain you for a few years, this plan will be worth it. Google also offers 200 GB and 2 TB space every month at $29.99 and $99.99 per year respectively. You can decide your storage priorities by checking your storage needs as we showed you in the earlier section of this article. 

► Buy/Upgrade Google One Plans

Alternatively, if you use Google for work, then you may need to communicate with the administrator regarding an upgrade. Google Workspace is priced differently than Google One and most organizations use a Workspace plan. In the Business Starter edition, you will get 30 GB of cloud storage for $6 per month. If you need more storage, then plans are also available at $12 per month for 2 TB cloud storage and $18 per month for 5TB cloud storage. It’s very likely that your administrator will upgrade you according to your storage needs as long as you communicate with them.

If you don’t want to get a paid plan, then the best thing you can do is keep all your images set on Storage Saver, since they consume as little as 16 MB space, you will be able to sustain a lot of your Google Photos storage using this method. 

How does the policy affect Pixel users?

The rules are slightly altered depending on the version of Pixel that you are using. The original 2023 Pixel is completely exempt from the rules of the policy so if you have the first generation Pixel then you don’t have to worry about this policy at all. Whether you’re storing the image and videos in the Original quality or Storage saver quality, there is no 15 GB cap that you need to worry about. 

For Pixels version 2, 3, 3a, 4, 4a, and 5, Google has stated that all images whether in Storage Saver or Original quality that were backed up before the 15 GB clause was introduced will be considered exempt from the policy. However, after June 1, 2023, any images that weren’t backed up in the Storage Saver format will count towards your Google account storage. 

For the Pixel 3 series exclusively, only photos that were backed up after January 31, 2023, and weren’t saved in Storage Saver quality will count towards the free storage limit of 15 GB.

Since we’re past both these deadlines (June 1, 2023, and January 31, 2023), all new pictures you back up in original quality using a Pixel phone (barring the original Pixel and Pixel XL) will now count towards the 15GB free storage. However, pictures saved in Storage Saver will always remain free and won’t count towards the 15 GB limit on the Pixel 5 or an older Pixel phone.

Does Pixel 6 or Pixel 5a offer unlimited photos backup?

No. The last device that was eligible to benefit from free Storage Saver mode backups was the Pixel 5. If you plan to buy or already own a newer Pixel device like the Pixel 6 or Pixel 5a, you should know that neither of these devices come with any free Google Photos storage.

Any pictures or videos you upload from these Pixel devices regardless of their quality (Original, Storage Saver, or Express) will count towards your Google account’s 15 GB limit. For anything beyond that, you will have to opt for a Google One subscription on a monthly or yearly basis. 

Does it make sense to purchase a Pixel phone now?

Yes and no. 

A Pixel purchase is a very personal decision based on your own preference and budget. But if you wish to buy a Pixel phone based on how this storage policy affects you, you may stand beneficial IF you buy the right Pixel phone.

Why yes?

If you’re fine with the quality you get in Storage Saver mode when backing up your pictures, then you may just find that getting a Pixel might not be such a bad thing. However, not all Pixel phones now have this free backup plan. You will only be able to make free-of-cost Storage Saver backups on a Pixel 5 or earlier Google device. This means, if you own a Pixel 2, 3, 3a, 4, 4a, and 5, all your existing and future pictures saved in Storage Saver mode will be uploaded for free. 

Why no?

If you, however, plan to buy or already own a Pixel 6 or Pixel 5a, then that won’t be the case for you. That’s because, Pixel 5 is the last of the Pixels to get the free photo backup functionality. For any new Pixel phones (including the Pixel 5a and Pixel 6), Google’s new storage policy will come into effect the same way it does if you own a non-Pixel Android phone or an iPhone. All your pictures no matter how you choose to back up will count towards your Google account’s 15 GB limit. 

So, if the primary reason you wanted to buy the latest Pixel was to get free Google Photos storage, then you can scratch that thought. You can no longer get that free cloud storage benefit with the new Pixel phones. 

Which Pixel phone should you buy now?

While we wouldn’t recommend buying an older smartphone, if you don’t wish to constantly pay for a Google One storage subscription every month, we have two suggestions for two different cases. 

Case A: If you’re looking for a primary smartphone with free photos storage, the Pixel 5 or Pixel 4a/5G should still be a good phone. In addition to unlimited Storage Saver backups, you also get a year of software support (as of 2023, that is). According to Google, you will get monthly security updates and major software upgrades for the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel 5 until August 2023, November 2023, and October 2023 respectively. 

Case B: If your primary reason to buy a Pixel phone is to back up pictures for free and use it as a secondary device, then we recommend getting your hands a used Pixel device. If you can find a deal on any working models of the Pixel 5 or older version, you can use them for backing up your pictures with ease without spending on a Google One subscription. As long as the used device is in working condition and is able to connect to the internet, you can use an older Pixel phone to upload photos in Storage Saver quality for life. If you, somehow, manage to get your hands on the original Pixel phone and it’s working, you’re in it for a treat – you can save all your old and new pictures in original quality for a lifetime (or as long as the phone works). 

Unless you have the original Pixel, any Google phone you have will save your images in the Storage Saver format for free. If you are an avid photographer and prefer to retain the original size of the images, Google’s Storage Saver mode isn’t the right approach for you. In such cases, you should either look for a physical portable solution or a paid cloud storage like what Google One offers.

Google: A ‘Site:’ Search Doesn’t Show All Pages

Google’s John Mueller says the results of a site: query are not a comprehensive collection of all a website’s pages.

This topic is addressed in the latest installment of the Ask Googlebot video series on YouTube.

Specifically, Mueller answers the following question:

“All of my URLs are indexed and when I check in Google one by one, the total number of URLs is 180. But in Google SERP, only 28 URLs show. Why is that?”

This person says all their pages can be found in Google when searching for them individually, but only 28 pages are shown in a site: search.

That may seem unusual, but as we hear from Mueller it’s perfectly normal.

Google’s John Mueller on Site: Queries

A site: query is a command that instructs Google to return results from one specific domain.

You can take these searches a step further by adding a keyword in front of the site: command. This will tell Google to return results from one domain that are relevant to the keyword in the query.

While this can be a useful tool to find what you’re looking for, it’s not designed to be used for diagnostics purposes.

Mueller explains:

“The short answer is that a site: query is not meant to be complete, nor used for diagnostics purposes.

A site query is a specific kind of search that limits the results to a certain website. It’s basically just the word site, a colon, and then the website’s domain.

This query limits the results to a specific website. It’s not meant to be a comprehensive collection of all the pages from that website.”

If you know you have 100 indexed pages, but a site: search only returns 50, there’s no reason to be concerned.

For an accurate look at how many pages of your Google is able to index, use Search Console.

The Index Coverage report in Search Console will show exactly which pages are indexed, and which pages (if any) have errors that prevent indexing.

Mueller continues:

“If you’re keen on finding out how many pages google has indexed from your website, then use Search Console instead.

Google Search Console is a free tool you can use to get more information about how Google Search sees your website.

Within Search Console you can see how your pages are shown in search, as well as the number of pages that are currently indexed.

In short, don’t worry about the counts shown in a site: query. Use Search Console instead.”

If Google is not able to index any of your pages, this report will tell you why. Then you can fix the issue and use the same report to re-submit the URL for indexing.

Empire Today : How To Optimize A Badly Branded Google Results Page

Last week was a trying week for me as on top of the normal day to day responsibilities of managing a search blog and a search marketing company, I was also managing multiple projects which were a bit out of my field of expertise.

We decided to renovate my condo just in time for the holidays with a major overhaul including tiling the kitchen, installing a new tub shower and toilet, tiling the bathroom floor and walls, painting and lastly, installing new carpeting. The carpet warehouse type places were a little overwhelming, and many had to actually order the carpeting from a much larger warehouse, then have it shipped, and installation would take another week. I remembered that Empire Today, which was a competitor to a past client of mine, promised next day installation on carpets, so I called them.

Their salesman came to my place Friday evening, showed me some samples, I selected the colors, I paid, then he placed the order. The result was swift and precise marketing and sales … the kind of environment I’m used to being a search marketer. Today, on Christmas Eve, Empire Today is going to install the carpet. Perfect.

In anticipation of the delivery, I searched for them on Google this morning and found quite an interesting array of search results which is a great example of the anatomy of a balanced and branded Google listing which is not very beneficial to the company and needs to be optimized : Empire Today.

They also are blessed with very well represented internal links which feature their core offerings.

Scroll down to the second and third organic results however, and the results are Anti-Empire Today listings from the sites chúng tôi and chúng tôi

This is not good for Empire Today, as these complaints are ranked quite highly and can lead to a potential customer choosing another company over Empire Today, even when that customer had enough drive to search for their brand name.

Optimizing videos of their commericals on YouTube, DailyMotion, MySpace, MetaCafe, Yahoo and AOL would also help them to brand the search results; especially in Universal Search (more on this below)..

Why Does Wikipedia Rank So Low?

The Empire Today Wikipedia page has some mediocre content about the company and its history; but it lacks a photo and only has 10 inbound links which come from outside of Wikipedia. This is not a well maintained Wikipedia page and some balanced additions to the page can be made to make it a gem, and rank above the complaints sites.

Luckily, they do not use the Empire Today text on their landing pages, so the irrelevance of the copy title to their content, URL and landing page help to rank them lower than the other listings, but this can still hurt Empire Today’s business and branding, as a lost sale can become a lost customer for life.

Enter Video Search

I mentioned videos and Google Universal search before and after viewing the Google Video results for Empire Today, I was shocked to see that although their happy-go-lucky commercial is ranked #1 on Google Video, the #3 ranking is really bad; it’s titled Empire Today and is of a bobble head doll of the Empire Today man going down in flames at the mercy of a blow torch, with lots of Empire Today branding and logos in the video!

Quick Fix : Smart video optimization including high ratings of their videos, content friendly titles and descriptions, customer testimonials, and guerilla videos of happy carpet laying employees.


The results on the first and second pages of Google for a search on the brand name Empire Today are a mix of complaints, press releases and job openings. Again, with the right touch and targeted linking and reputation management campaign, I do believe that Empire Today could have a much more beneficial showing the in results for their company, which are now a balance act of their site, Wikipedia, complaints, and news stories.

As a matter of fact, 8 of the top 20 results for their company are complaints about their service. Like I said before, these are very fair and balanced results from Google, almost innocently untouched, but a smart search marketing campaign could expand their positive branding and recognition from the world of traditional media, to the world of search engine marketing.

Google on the other hand has built a simple solution that just works. They do not have any tools like Excel but most users do not use them. However, we need to admit that Google is catching up, they are closing in, but they need to improve quite a lot to compete with MS Excel.

That being said, we can not choose a clear winner here. Google Sheet lacks some essential features but at the same time, they are better suited for collaboration which can be important for some people. MS Excel does all the thing Sheet excluding collaboration on top of some Excel exclusive features.

Slideshow Presentation: PowerPoint vs Slides

One can not climb the corporate ladder without good SlideShow Presentation software, lucky for you, both Google and Microsoft have created their own versions, Slides and PowerPoint respectively, and they both are great.

Just like Word and Excel, Microsoft’s PowerPoint has been ruling the market for ages. They started as an excellent software to create SlideShow Presentation and have kept on growing. They have animations, transitions, and dozens of different tools to make you and your content stand out from the crowd.

On the other hand, Google’s Slides is a decent software to create Slideshow Presentation. It may seem like Microsoft is going to sweep all the land in this war between Microsoft 365 and Google Workplace. But this is the section where Google Workplace is starting to regain some ground.

Outlook is good and probably one of the most famous mailing services in the market. They have 50GB of storage capacity (without the inclusion of attachment). With a maximum file size of 150 MB and a recipient count of 500 Outlook is a decent option for a business email.

That being said, Gmail probably is the superior of the two. They have billions of active users all around the world. One can send a mail to 500 people at a time, however, the maximum file size is just 25 MB but one can send bigger files as a Google Drive attachment.

MS Outlook is a decent option for Business Email but Gmail is the better of the two.

Cloud Storage: OneDrive vs Google Drive

Cloud Storage is very important in this world of the Internet. It has replaced most of the physical storage devices such as Pendrive, DVD, HDD, etc. Therefore, choosing a Cloud Storage service is very important.

Microsoft OneDrive is one of the best cloud storage services in the market. They give 1TB for personal cloud storage. However, the capacity can be increased by opting for a five-user Enterprise account.

Microsoft 365 Business Premium: At $20 a month it has all the features that its cheaper version has such as Offline version of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Access, and web services such as OneDrive cloud storage, Team, SharePoint, Exchange plus some exclusive tools such as Intune and Azure Information Protection.

Microsoft 365 E1: At $10 a month we have a basic solution for Enterprises. With this pack, you will get 1 TB of OneDrive Cloud Storage and all web and mobile apps of Microsoft 365.

Microsoft 365 E3: At $ 20 a month you will get desktop applications of Microsoft 365, a maximum mailbox size of 100 GB per user, and many other things.

One thing to note while talking about the Microsoft 365 plans and Microsoft365 Enterprise plans is that they only offer annual subscriptions.

Facebook bars these images from containing price or purchase information, contact information, references to Facebook features such as Like and Share, and any calls to action (“Tell your friends” and such).

Custom Pages

You still can create custom Facebook pages via iframes coding or with third-party applications such as Pagemodo, but the procedure involves a few key changes.

Since a Wall post doesn’t stay at the top of the page for long, you’ll want to use a new feature called pinning.



Fans can now send a private message to your business via the Message button. You can turn on messaging by going to the Admin Panel, selecting Manage, Edit Page, and checking the Messages box on the Manage Permissions page. I wouldn’t recommend turning this feature off unless you are already managing customer feedback in another location and don’t have the resources to manage this function via Facebook as well. Posts by Other Users

Posts by visitors no longer intermingle with your Wall posts; now, a block to the right contains all of the recent posts from other users. Since the posts are less prominent in this location, it’s important to remember to check them so that you don’t miss any important messages or feedback from potential customers.


Milestones, another new Timeline feature, let you add past events related to the history of your organization. To start using it, select Milestones where you enter a new Wall post, and add the date your business was founded. Next, you can include important past events that deserve a place on the Timeline.

Manage Your Page

Timeline’s new Admin Panel facilitates page management and includes five sections: Notifications, Messages, New Likes, Insights, and Page Tips. Some of these sections are familiar from earlier Facebook layouts, and are merely now available in one location. Messages, as described earlier, is the new area in which any private messages from visitors appear, and it will be available only if you’ve activated that feature. Page Tips is also new, but it’s less useful, as it rotates through a variety of topics rather than offering a method of answering a specific question.

Insights and Statistics

In all sections of Insights, you can select a date range to obtain data for a specific time period. The Insights Likes tab shows the demographics and location of people who have liked your page, as well as where the Likes originated–such as the from the actual page, a Like box, or a mobile device.

The Reach tab includes data about everyone who saw your content, even nonfans. It contains demographics, how they reached your page, page views, unique visitors, total tab views, and external sites that referred visitors to your page.


From the Manage menu at the top of the Admin Panel, you can access several options: Edit Page, Use Activity Log, and See Banned Users.
