We have some great news for the pro users of the Galaxy A6 smartphone who like to root their Android device and have some fun with TWRP recovery and custom ROMs.
The well-known TWRP recovery is now available for the Samsung Galaxy A6. Though, if you own a Galaxy A6 Plus, you will be disappointed to learn that this TWRP build supports only the standard A6, not the A6+.
How to root the Galaxy S9 and S9+
Thanks to the work done XDA member , users of the Galaxy A6 can now install the TWRP recovery, and use it to get root access on the device right away.
Launched only in May 2023, the A6 and A6+ offer Samsung’s bezel-less designs in the budget range. Though, given the mediocre spec sheet that they carry, it’s no surprise that Samsung is finding it hard to make an impact with these handsets, especially with the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Moto G6 setting the trend.

How to root the Samsung Galaxy A6
Warning!
Do not try anything given on this page if you do not know completely what you are doing. In case any damage occurs, we won’t be held responsible.
Compatibility
The download files and the process for gaining root access given on this page are compatible only with the Samsung Galaxy A6, codename a6lte (model no. A600). Do not try this on any other device as you might end up damaging your device and permanently brick it.
This TWRP recovery is not compatible with the Galaxy A6+. It is only for Galaxy A6, codename a6lte.
Pre-requisite
Take note of the warning and compatibility sections above, please.
Install the ADB and Fastboot driver on your PC.
Install Samsung driver on your PC.
Make sure you have enabled developer options, USB debugging and OEM Unlock on your Galaxy A6.
Backup all you need to. Contacts, documents, media files, etc. backup everything.
The device must not be RMM locked
Make sure your Galaxy A6 is not RMM locked. Here is how to identify your device is locked. The device must clear all of the three tests below:
Reboot to download mode. If you see the text RMM state = Prenormal, then it means your device is RMM locked.
The OEM unlock option is not available under the Developer options after you have enabled it in the pre-requisite section above. If it’s not available, then that is because your device is RMM locked. It should be available normally.
When you are trying to reboot to recovery mode, you get the message ‘Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed’. This also means that your Galaxy A6 is RMM locked.
How to install TWRP recovery on the Galaxy A6
Once again, this won’t work for the Galaxy A6+, BTW.
Make sure you have covered the pre-requisite section well, and that your Galaxy A6 is not RMM locked, as given above.
Disconnect your Galaxy A6 from PC if it is connected.
Download required files:
Odin 3.13.1 PC software: Odin3_v3.13.1.zip
Galaxy A6 TWRP recovery: TWRP_3.2.2-0_a6lte_20230722.tar
DM Verity disabler boot patch: no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip
RMM Bypass – RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa_v2.zip
Extract the Odin file. You should get this file Odin3 chúng tôi other files from the extraction).
Boot the Galaxy A6 into download mode:
Power off your Galaxy A6. Wait 6-7 seconds after screen goes off.
Press and hold the three buttons Volume down + Volume up + Power buttons together until you see the Warning screen.
Press Volume Up to continue to download mode.
You cannot proceed until Odin recognizes your device and you get the Added!! message.
If it doesn’t, you need to install/re-install drivers again and use the original cable that came with the device. Mostly, drivers are the problem.
You can try different USB ports on your PC too, btw.
If Odin gets stuck at setup connection, then you need to do this all again. Disconnect your device, close Odin, boot device into download mode again, open Odin, and then select the TWRP and flash it again as said above.
If you get FAIL in the top left box, then also you need to flash the TWRP file again as stated just above.
Force reboot and access the recovery mode again to get to TWRP recovery. Here’s how:
Your Galaxy A6 would remain in download mode itself — it won’t restart automatically because we turned off Auto Reboot above, to buy you time to boot into recovery mode from here. Read the point below fully before doing this.
[In essence, when the device restarts (screen goes off), you must be holding Volume Up and Power button together. We have to press the Volume down + Power buttons first to force restart the device from download mode.]
Now, you will be taken to the home page of the TWRP. Wipe the data partition now.
Tap on Wipe option, and and then select Format Data option.
Reboot the device in TWRP recovery again. For this, press the home button, then Reboot, and then Recovery. Data partition should be mountable now.
Install DM Verity disabler and RMM Bypass (and root file if you want to) files:
Connect the Galaxy A6 to your PC now using a USB cable.
Transfer the DM Verity disabler and RMM files from PC to your Galaxy A6. Remember the location on the device.
You can now disconnect the device to PC.
In TWRP, tap on Install option on the home screen, and then select the DM verity disabler file. Then do the swipe action at the bottom to install it.
Install the RMM Bypass file the same way.
[Optional] Root the Galaxy A6 now to avoid deleting everything on the device again because if you install root package later after rebooting the device from here, you will need to format the data partition again, which would delete everything (including the internal storage) again. To root Galaxy A6 now, do this:
Download the Magisk root package: Magisk-v16.7.zip
Connect the device to PC is disconnected.
Transfer the Magisk file to your Galaxy A6.
Install root access. In TWRP, tap on Install option on the home screen, and then select the Magisk file. Then do the swipe action at the bottom to install it.
Install the RMM Bypass file again.
Now, let’s restart the device. Tap on the Reboot System button. Or from the home page of TWRP, tap on Reboot option, and then on System to restart your Galaxy A6, and it shall reboot alright. You don’t have to worry about the RMM lock now.
That’s it.
How to root Galaxy A6
FYI, we already mentioned the root guide in the optional step 16 above to allow you to install the root package wit TWRP guide itself so that you don’t have to format the data partition again because that’s a requirement. If you didn’t install the root package above, follow the guide below thoroughly and avoid installing the root package only.
Here is how you can install root access safely on your Galaxy A6 without needing to worry about the new RMM lock trick of Samsung.
Make sure you have installed the TWRP recovery using the guide given above.
Download the required files:
Magisk root package: Magisk-v16.7.zip
DM Verity disabler boot patch: no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip
RMM Bypass – RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa_v2.zip
Reboot into TWRP recovery. For this, power off the device. Once the screen goes off, wait for at least 5-6 seconds, and then press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons together to reach TWRP.
Wipe the data partition now.
Tap on Wipe option, and and then select Format Data option.
Reboot the device in TWRP recovery again. For this, press the home button, then Reboot, and then Recovery. Data partition should be mountable now.
Root the Galaxy A6 now. Here’s how:
Connect the device to PC if disconnected.
Transfer the Magisk file to your Galaxy A6.
Install the Magisk file. On the TWRP’s home screen, tap on Install button, and then select the Magisk file. Swipe at the bottom of the screen to confirm the installation.
Install the RMM Bypass file too the same way.
Tap on the Reboot System button. Or, from the home page of TWRP, tap on Reboot option, and then on System to restart your Galaxy A6.
That’s it.

STEP 2: INSTALL LATEST DRIVER
You must have proper and working driver installed on your windows computer to be able to successfully root your Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8.

STEP 3: INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
DOWNLOADSDownload the Pre-Rooted Kernel file given below and transfer it to a separate folder on your computer (just to keep things tidy, that is).
PRE ROOTED KERNEL ODIN FILE STEP-BY-STEP GUIDEImportant Note: Backup important files stored on internal SD card of your device, so that in case a situation arises requiring you to do a factory reset after flashing with Odin, which might delete internal sd card too, your files will remain safe on PC.
Extract/Unzip the Odin file, Odin_v3.09.zip on your computer (using 7-zip free software, preferably). You’ll get the following files:

Download the kernel file, I9152-JB_4.2.2-boot.tar and place it in the same folder where you extracted the Odin files. You’ll have the following files in the folder now:

Disconnect the Galaxy Mega 5.8 from PC if it is connected.
Boot your Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 into Download Mode:
Power off your phone first and wait for 6-7 seconds after display is off.
Press and hold these 3 buttons together until you see Warning! screen: Volume Down + Power + Home.
If you don’t get the Added! message, here are some troubleshooting tips:
Make sure you have installed driver for Galaxy Mega 5.8 as said above.
If you have already installed driver, then uninstall them and re-install back.
Connect using a different USB port on your PC.
Try a different USB cable. The original cable that came with your phone should work best, if not, try any other cable that’s new and of good quality.
Reboot phone and PC and then try again.
Load the firmware file (extracted in Step 1) into Odin as instructed below:
Now in the Option section of Odin, make sure that Re-Partition box is unchecked. (Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time boxes remain checked, while all other boxes remain unchecked.)
Double check the above two steps. (Step 7 and Step 8)
If you see FAIL message instead of the PASS in Odin’s top left box, that’s a problem. Try this now: disconnect your Galaxy Mega 5.8 from PC, close Odin, remove phone’s battery and put it back inside in 3-4 seconds, open Odin and then repeat from Step 3 of this guide again.
Also, If device is Stuck at setup connection or on any other process, then too, try this: disconnect your Galaxy Mega 5.8 from PC, close Odin, remove phone’s battery and put it back inside in 3-4 seconds, open Odin and then repeat from Step 3 of this guide again.

Samsung Galaxy S8: Remap The Bixby Button (Updated: New Root Method)
Update May 5: We’ve now added a non-app method for remapping the Galaxy S8’s Bixby button on a rooted device. If rooting isn’t your style, we’ve also listed the pros and cons of some of the better Bixby remapping apps in Google Play.
As the saying goes, when the world gives you lemons, make lemonade. Or in this case, when Samsung gives you Bixby, use an app to remap the Bixby button to Google Assistant or any other app.
A number of apps helping people to remap their Bixby button have cropped up. We’ve decided to list some of the best options and talk about what we like and what we don’t.
Remap Bixby without an appIf you feel comfortable with rooting your Galaxy S8, a developer has demonstrated how you can remap Bixby on the Galaxy S8 without needing an app. You can remap the Bixby button to a wide variety of options including launching the camera, Google Assistant and much more.
The procedure does require using a root explorer, and is definitely not for everyone. You will also have to rename and edit a file or two in your smartphone, which again we don’t recommend if you are not already comfortable with handling these kinds of tasks. You can find detailed instructions on the XDA Developers forum.
BixRemapIt’s not a very elegant solution and means that you’ll have both Bixby and Assistant running on top of each other, but until a more polished fix comes (I’m sure there are more than a few devs working on it as we speak) it’ll suffice. Several other Redditors have suggested the app be updated to lower its priority settings to remove the persistent status bar icon and to add a launch at boot option. Bennett seems to be open to the ideas so keep your eyes peeled for that update.
bxActionsbxActions is a very well designed app that gives you access to a number of different actions to map the Bixby button to. You can’t remap the button to whatever you want, but the 10 options it does give you are all quite useful to have on the fly. You’ll have to set up Hello Bixby for the app to work while the screen is off, and after that it will quickly launch Bixby, then your app, then close Bixby. This proves just how “hacky” this method is, but you can’t see the series of actions when the screen is unlocked, so its really not much of an issue.

BixBye has quite a bit more functionality than something like bxActions, allowing you to do things like launch individual apps with a tap of the Bixby button. The app isn’t quite as intuitive or good looking however, but it’s up to you whether or not this is something you actually care about. Another unfortunate aspect of this app is that is that it will launch apps underneath the lock screen, forcing you to unlock the screen yourself to get access to these apps. It’s a trade off, really, so you’ll have to decide if you value more functionality over convenience. Check out the screenshots below, and decide for yourself if this is the best remap for you.
Note: We did notice some issues with this app, mainly focused around disabling the functionality. After toggling the remap off it still performed the action, so you’ll have to remap the button to “Do Nothing” in order to actually turn it off.
Bixby Button RemapperBixby remapper is a bit of a hybrid between the previous 2 options, having a decent looking interface while also offering quite a lot of functionality. There is also a beta option that offers faster launching, though it may not work every time. You have the option of doing quite specific actions like pressing the back or home button.
While we’re not sure why you would want to do this, it’s always nice to have the option.
Unfortunately like BixBye this app will not unlock your screen and will only do actions and launch apps in the background, so if you want this functionality you may want to go with something like bxActions. Check it out.

How To Screenshot On Samsung Galaxy Tab S8
Admittedly, Android tablets continue to pale in comparison to the experience that you get with an iPad. However, Samsung continues to push the limits of what an Android tablet can do, and the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup comes as the latest and greatest that Samsung has to offer. Even though the app experience may not be the greatest, all of the basic features are still available on these tablets, including the ability to screenshot on Samsung Galaxy Tab S8.
How to Screenshot on Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Screenshot on Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Using ButtonsJust like the Galaxy S22, and most Android phones for that matter, the easiest way to take a screenshot on the Galaxy Tab S8 is to use the hardware buttons. If you are holding the tablet in landscape mode, they are found on the top, but if you are holding the Tab S8 in portrait mode, they will be found on the right.
From there, whenever you want to take a screenshot, just press the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time. You will need to do so rather quickly as if you hold the Power button for too long, you could accidentally invoke Bixby or Google Assistant.
Palm SwipeIf it wasn’t already obvious, there are a lot of similarities between the Galaxy Tab S8 and Galaxy S22. This includes being able to use various gestures, including Palm Swipe.
Palm Swipe is a feature that essentially lets you swipe the palm of your hand across the screen in order to take a screenshot. However, before you can use this feature, you’ll first need to enable it from the Settings app.
Open the Settings app on your Galaxy Tab S8.
Scroll down and tap Advanced Features.
Scroll down and tap Motions and Gestures.
Tap the toggle next to Palm swipe to capture to enable the feature.
Once the Palm Swipe gesture is enabled, just exit the Settings app and then swipe your palm across the screen. You should see a momentary flash before the edit menu appears at the bottom of the screen.
S PenNo matter what version of the Galaxy Tab S8 you decide on, all three of them include an S Pen in the box. It’s one way that Samsung tries to gain a leg up on Apple’s iPad, which requires a separate purchase if you want to use the Apple Pencil.
Detach your S Pen from the back of your Galaxy Tab S8.
Tap the Air Command icon.
Select Smart select.
After tapping Smart Select, an outlined box will appear on your screen. You can use the S Pen to change the size of the box, depending on what it is that you are taking a screenshot of. Once you’ve lined everything up for the screenshot, just tap the Save icon on the far-right corner of the bottom toolbar.
Edge Panels and Smart SelectEdge Panels are a quick and easy way for you to access different apps or widgets without going back to your home screen. These can also be used to access various tools built into your Galaxy Tab S8, including offering a quick way to take a screenshot. But before you can go down that route, you’ll first need to enable both Edge Panels and Smart Select on the Galaxy Tab S8.
Open the Settings app on your Galaxy Tab S8.
Tap Display.
Scroll down and tap Edge Panels.
Tap the toggle next to Edge Panels to turn this feature on.
Tap Panels.
Make sure that Smart Select is enabled.
Close the Settings app.
Navigate to the page that you want to take a screenshot of.
Open the Edge Panel with a swipe from the side of the screen.
You should see a small outline of a box indicating where Edge Panels reside.
Swipe again until you see the Smart Select panel.

When enabled, your Galaxy Tab S8 is essentially transformed into a laptop-like interface, complete with a different home screen and so much more. You can even go so far as to connect the tablet to a monitor using an HDMI cable and use the Galaxy Tab S8 that way.
From DeX Mode, the other options for taking a screenshot are still applicable, but Samsung offers one that’s even easier than all of those. When enabled, DeX Mode presents a “dock” at the bottom of the screen. Along with housing different apps, there are a few shortcuts to be found here too. This includes a dedicated screenshot button, so you can take a screenshot on Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 with just a single press.
Voice CommandsWhile Bixby isn’t the greatest digital assistant for mobile devices, it does have a few handy features. But with the Galaxy Tab S8, you can go so far as to ditch Bixby and use the vastly-superior Google Assistant if you want. No matter the case, either of these digital assistants allows you to take a screenshot with nothing more than your voice.
After Bixby or Google Assistant has been set up on your Galaxy Tab S8, all you need to do is say, “Hey Bixby (or Google), take a screenshot.”
Using a Physical KeyboardJust as we saw with the Galaxy Tab S7 launch, Samsung has released a series of keyboard covers for all three of the Galaxy Tab S8 options. This means that you can truly turn your Galaxy Tab S8 into a laptop replacement whenever you need to. But this also means that you can take a screenshot right from your keyboard whenever it’s attached to the Galaxy Tab S8.
With the keyboard connected, press the ALT + DeX keys at the same time. Make sure that you press the ALT key first, as you will either enter or leave DeX Mode if you press that key first. Once the screenshot has been successfully captured, the screen will briefly flash and you’ll be presented with a toolbar to make edits, save the screenshot, or share it.

How to download the correct firmware file
This is an important part!
Be sure to check and find the correct model no. of your Galaxy A6. Then, based on your device’s model no., look for the appropriate firmware build from above.
Now that you know the model no., download the latest firmware from above for that model no. exactly.

How to install a firmware
First, read our disclaimer, then take backup and then follow the guide below to install the firmware.
Disclaimer: Installing an official firmware through Odin doesn’t void your device’s warranty, but it remains an unofficial process and thus you need to be cautious of it. In any case, you only are responsible for your device. We won’t be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components.
Backup, backup, backup! Create an appropriate backup of contacts, pictures, videos, songs and other important files stored on your device before proceeding with the steps below, so that in case something goes wrong you’ll have a backup of all your important files. Sometimes, firmware installation may delete everything on your device! Like, when you change the CSC of your device, knowingly or not.
Step-by-step Firmware Installation Guide
Let’s see how to install the firmware on your Galaxy A6. Make sure you have more than 30% battery on your device.
Step 1. Make sure you have downloaded the correct firmware file on your PC. See above for how to download correct firmware file for your Galaxy A6 and download links.
Step 3. Also, download Odin PC software (latest version).
Step 5. Extract the Odin file. You should get the Odin exe file (other files could be hidden, hence not visible).
Step 6. Disconnect your Galaxy A6 from PC if it is connected.
Step 7. Boot into download mode:
Power off your device. Wait for 6-7 seconds after screen goes off.
Press and hold the three buttons Volume down + Home + Power together until you see the Warning screen.
Press Volume Up to continue to download mode.
Step 9. Connect your device now using the USB cable. Odin should recognize your device. It’s a must. When it recognizes, you will see Added!! message appearing in the Log box in the bottom left, and the first box under ID:COM will also show a no. and turn its background blue. Look at the pic below.
You cannot proceed until you get the Added!! message, which confirms that Odin has recognized your device.
If you don’t get Added!! message, you need to install/re-install drivers again, and use the original cable that came with the device. Mostly, drivers are the problem (look at step 2 above).
You can try different USB ports on your PC too.
Load the firmware files(s) on your device. This depends on how many files you got in step 4 above upon extracting the firmware .zip file.
Case 1: If you got a single .tar/.tar.md5 file, then load this into AP tab of your Odin software. Then go to next step.
Case 2: If you got more than one .tar/.tar.md5 file, then you must be having files starting with AP, CSC, Home_CSC, BL, CP, etc. stuff. In this case, choose the files as follows. Select the firmware files as follows.
About CSC file: Using the HOME_CSC file won’t reset your device, and data on the phone shouldn’t be deleted. However, when we select regular CSC file, and it results in CSC on the device being different than that in CSC file, your phone will be formatted automatically. You can even choose to ignore loading the CSC file, that may do alright too. But if it doesn’t work out, repeat the whole process and select CSC file this time around.
Info: When you load files, Odin checks the md5 of firmware file, which takes time. So, simply wait until that’s done and the firmware file is loaded. Don’t worry if Odin gets unresponsive for a while, it’s normal. Binary size will also show up in Odin.
Go back to Log tab now, as it will show the progress of firmware installation when you hit the start button in next step.
Wait till installation is finished, after which your device will reboot automatically. You’ll get PASS message as shown below upon successful installation from Odin.
Some errors you may run into, and with respective solution.
If Odin gets stuck at setup connection, then you need to do this all again. Disconnect your device, close Odin, boot device into download mode again, open Odin, and then select the file and flash it again as said above.
If you get FAIL in the top left box, then also you need to flash the file again as stated just above.
That’s it. Let the device restart automatically.
