Suggested March 2024 Piracy Legislation Needed To Battle Huge Problem, Experts Say

Legislation in the U.S. Congress that would allow federal law enforcement officials to block websites accused of copyright piracy is necessary because of the vast number of foreign sites trading in infringing music and movies and counterfeit products, two supporters of the bills said.

Current copyright enforcement measures, including criminal and civil copyright infringement lawsuits and takedown notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (pdf), are not enough, because they largely can’t reach foreign websites engaged in infringement, said Steve Metalitz, a copyright lawyer and partner at the Mitchell, Silberberg, and Knupp law firm.

Piracy Rampant

Copyright infringement is a huge business, added Chris Israel, a partner in the American Continental Group, a public policy consulting firm, and a former intellectual property enforcement coordinator in President George W. Bush’s administration. Current tools for copyright owners and law enforcement officials have “some gaps we need to fill,” he said.

Some estimates suggest online piracy costs U.S. businesses US$200 billion a year, although those numbers are disputed.

But critics of the two bills said they go too far, particularly SOPA, introduced in late October. SOPA would allow copyright owners to target both U.S. and foreign websites that don’t do enough to protect against copyright infringement by their users, said David Sohn, senior policy counsel at the Center for Democracy and Technology, a digital rights group.

Access Restrictions

Cloud computing services, social-networking websites, and other online tools in the U.S. and overseas could be targeted in SOPA, and both bills would allow the U.S. Department of Justice to block the domain names of sites accused of copyright infringement.

“Both of the bills we’re talking about today raise significant problems and cause significant collateral damage,” he said. “[Domain-name blocking] is a very blunt tool.”

With the bills targeting foreign websites for domain-name blocking, Sohn expects that many site owners won’t travel to the U.S. to fight the DOJ requests for court orders to block the sites. “It’s a burdensome and difficult thing to decide to come to the United States to defend yourself,” he said. “I suspect there will be a lot of one-sided cases.”

SOPA is “remarkably broad,” allowing for courts and copyright owners to broadly define what sites encourage copyright infringement, added Larry Downes, senior adjunct fellow at TechFreedom, a tech-focused, antiregulation think tank. SOPA would allow the DOJ to shut down sites that enable or facilitate copyright infringement, according to the language in the bill.

Earlier Thursday, backers of SOPA distributed a recent letter from free speech lawyer Floyd Abrams to sponsors of the legislation. Abrams discounted concerns from opponents that the legislation would lead to the blocking of websites that include protected speech under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

“The notion that adopting legislation to combat the theft of intellectual property on the Internet threatens freedom of expression and would facilitate, as one member of the House of Representatives recently put it, ‘the end of the Internet as we know it,’ is … insupportable,” Abrams wrote. “Copyright violations have never been protected by the First Amendment and have been routinely punished wherever they occur, including the Internet. This proposed legislation is not inconsistent with the First Amendment; it would protect creators of speech, as Congress has done since this nation was founded, by combating its theft.”

‘What The Experts Say’: What’s Changed After Panda 4.0?

At the end of May, I wrote a round-up post of expert opinions on the latest big Google updates: Panda 4.0 and Payday Loan 2.0. Now that it’s been a month or so, I thought I’d ask another group of experts for their opinion on how the update has continued to be reflected in their clients and their own SEO progress. I asked our experts the following:

“Now that Panda 4.0 has been out for about a month, have you seen any long-standing changes to website traffic or SERPs? If so, what is your recommendation for first action steps to make the best out of this Google update?”

From Marcus Tober, CTO and Founder of Searchmetrics:

However, in general we only saw enhancements made by Google versus major changes, which makes sense.  Matt Cutts told me the update to Panda 4 was created by a new team at Google, and that it was a re-work of Panda. So they have to see what the impact is on the user, and have to learn and adapt. Between major Panda iterations, changes can take a couple of months to understand. I expect the same here.

From Joost de Valk, Creator of Yoast: From AJ Kohn, Owner of Blind Five Year Old:

Eliminate thin content pages (don’t be timid here) or those that are targeting fractional keywords. Don’t rely on aggregated or syndicated content and ensure that the user experience makes it easy to digest your content and complete tasks.

Do the hard work and deliver content and experiences that satisfy user intent.

From Mindy Weinstein, SEO Manager at Bruce Clay Inc.:

Just as was expected, websites with thin, syndicated, or scraped content were hurt. However, other sites benefited from Panda 4.0 by gaining greater visibility, so the update was a welcomed change for some.

It is important to remember what Google is trying to accomplish with Panda—they want to improve the quality of their product. They are not trying to punish websites, instead they want to serve up better search results for users.

If a website has been affected by Panda 4.0, the first action step is to audit the content. This kind of audit is not easy, as you have to look at the website as objectively as possible. That might mean you need to bring in another person to help give an unbiased opinion. Ask such questions as is the website content thin, duplicate, or simply of little value? Is it hard to read? If so, you might need to start consolidating content or getting rid of it altogether. You will also need to create new content. Make sure you have a good strategy in place and focus on developing content that is engaging and interesting to users. You want your contribution to the web to be unique and valuable.

From A.J. Ghergich, Founder of Ghergich & Co.:

If you see a large drop in organic rankings, the first step is to determine if it was Panda or Penguin that brought you down, or a combination of both.

For Penguin: 9 out of 10 cases I look at were penalized because of WAY TOO MANY keyword rich links pointing to a site.

For Panda: Most cases I see are doing one (or both) of these things wrong:

Thin Content: producing original but crappy articles for the purpose of SEO that lack true understanding of the topic. You also may be aggregating a ton of content from external sources. The hallmark of this content is little to no social shares because no actual human being would post this on their Facebook account.

Doorway Pages: over-optimizing your internal links and also cross-linking from too many sites under your own control.

For example:

ATTN: Stop practicing SEO like it’s 2005. Being a big brand is no longer going to save you, and it shouldn’t.

Note: There is some debate as to whether the eBay penalty was a manual action by Google or algorithmically applied via the latest panda update. Only Google knows the answer to this. However, eBay is certainly guilty of creating the kind of thin, over optimized content that is a big no-no in the post-Panda world.

If eBay is getting busted (manually or algorithmically) for creating these types of pages, what chance do you think you have of getting away with anything similar? Only produce high quality content even if that means producing drastically less content.

Do not over-optimize your internal site structure and create thin doorway style pages in an attempt to game Google. (No, your footer is not a good place to stuff some keyword rich links!)

Don’t let ‘Pandageddon’ happen to a site you love!

From Glenn Gabe, Digital Marketing Consultant at G-Squared Interactive:

I help a lot of companies with Panda, and have since February of 2011. Panda 4.0 was HUGE. Everything about it was big. The recoveries were big (for companies I was helping deal with Panda hits) and the fresh hits were severe. I’ve had a number of companies reach out to me since P4.0 rolled out that have lost 60%+ of their Google organic traffic overnight. Some have lost 80%+. Like I said, it was huge.

Regarding first steps for those that are hit, it’s impossible to tackle Panda with band-aids. A full audit must be conducted (through the lens of Panda). Those audits typically produce a number of important action items. Panda targets low quality content, but “low quality” can mean a lot of things. It can mean thin content, duplicate content, low-quality affiliate content, scraped content, technical problems causing content quality issues, etc. An audit will surface problematic areas to address. That’s the first step (it’s a big step, but it’s critically important).

Execution is key once the audit is done. Panda rolls out monthly, so companies have a chance of recovery once per month (typically). So, making the right changes as quickly as possible is the key to recovery. Unfortunately, many companies need to wait months to see recovery, so getting the site in order is critically important. I wrote a case study where a company did everything right with fixing its site and waited 6 months to recover. That was extreme in my opinion, but that shows how hard it can be to recover.

See some of Glenn’s posts on panda (with case studies!) at G-Squared Interactive’s blog, Search Engine Watch, and SEJ.

From Tommy Walker, Editor of chúng tôi and Host of The Inside Mind:

We’re not really noticing any decreases that aren’t consistent with YoY trends. It’s been our editorial policy since Day one to publish nothing but extremely well researched content with an 1,850 word minimum and links to academic research, case studies, and behavioral psychology reports.

Of course, it’s not fool-proof, and I’m staying aware of what’s going on with Google’s shifts, but I’d like to believe our focus on being as thoroughly researched as possible has helped us to avoid major dings when these changes come about.

From Jim Boykin, Founder and CEO of Internet Marketing Ninjas:

Yes, we’ve worked with many sites over the years that have been effected by Panda, but Panda 4.0 only hit two of our clients. Those two clients were warned that there were patterns in their website that fit patterns that Google Panda penalizes for. Both of these sites had over 100,000 pages of content, and both had tons of location pages. For example, one client also had pages for every zip code. Both clients had tens of thousands of near identical pages where only the location was changed on the pages. For example, the Denver, Colorado page was the same as the Troy, New York page. Both of these sites also had tons of “near identical” product pages as well.

The solution basically is in greatly reducing the size of the site, ensuring that every page is unique and useful. For example, one site we’re bringing from 220,000 pages indexed in Google down to 3,900 pages.

We did that by blocking the majority of pages via chúng tôi We’re blocking everything that’s near duplicate until we can write unique content for each page.

We also used the canonical tag on many of their pages that were near identical as well.

And for pagination issues, we implemented the rel=previous, rel=next.

So, now we’re busy writing content…..There’s no way we’re going to be putting up 220,000 pages again, but these clients are fine with us writing 100-200 pages of content for them each month, and focusing on the locations where they’ve traditionally sold the most products. We predict even if the penalty is removed, this one site will still see a 64% reduction in traffic via our killing 99% of the URLs.

By writing original content, if we have 1000 new pages up, we predict we could pick up about 1/2 of the 64% reduction. It may take two years, and a lot of content, to get the traffic back to where it once was.

We make sure all pages are unique to each other; not just changes in a few words, but each page hand written. Some pages have 200 words, and some have 600 words (and everything in between). Writing location pages that mention real landmarks in those locations, and adding a few external links to trusted resources in that location.

Luckily, these clients understand that they once had “regular traffic”, then they added hundreds of thousands of pages and had mega traffic, and now they’re back to “regular traffic” for now. It’s a game they played, and they won for a while. Now they realize they must write unique useful content, and it’s going to take time to get great again.

6 Huge B2B Social Media Marketing Mistakes To Avoid

There are many ways marketers can use social media, and we often see a lot of great examples of social media marketing from products or national brands and local businesses that really thrive on generating brand loyalty and involvement from their customers.

But what if your product or service is something with a long sales cycle rather than a sought-after consumer product, or if your target audience is composed of IT managers or CFOs rather than moms or college students? You can still reach key B2B stakeholders through social media marketing. But without the right strategies and tactics in place to reach these buyers on the right platforms, your social media efforts can end up hurting, rather than helping, your business.

Here are some of the biggest social media marketing mistakes to avoid – and what to do instead.

1. Dedicating Resources to the Wrong Platforms

Regardless of your business size or industry, building a robust social media presence is vital – but it doesn’t have to be everything to everyone. It’s important, especially if your resources are limited, that you’re focusing your social media efforts in places that will generate the most return for your efforts, but you can’t just guess at which ones those are. Not knowing where to start your social media strategy might be the result of a bigger underlying problem: not knowing your target audience. So, take some steps to figure out who your current buyers are and what your audience really looks like.

If you’re not exactly sure of the answers, or want to focus the majority of your efforts on a single platform, start with Facebook. It is the most widely used social media site by far, with 1.65 billon active users, and 66% of users logging on daily. So, chances are, your target prospects at least have a personal Facebook profile and are spending time there regularly. In fact, Facebook users spend an average of 50 minutes a day on the site. And, research shows that popular days and times for Facebook are Wednesday-Friday afternoons before four p.m., prime time for B2B organizations to reach out to their target audience.

2. Having a Narrow Definition of Social Media Marketing

Many businesses may think social media marketing just means having a claimed and active business page on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social channels. But this narrow view of social media marketing overlooks a wide variety of channels and strategies that can expand a business’ reach, create communities, and drive engagement.

Here are a few social media tactics that your B2B organization can benefit from:

Use LinkedIn Showcase pages to highlight top products or solutions and drive traffic directly to that page

Create a Facebook or LinkedIn group to generate engagement from an active user community

Leverage external social communities and online forums to drive user conversations and answer technical questions

Have a robust and active Glassdoor profile that reinforces your company’s brand and message

Publish product, customer, and community videos on an optimized YouTube page

3. Having a One-and-Done Content Strategy

What do all social media platforms have in common? They’re all content driven. But many B2B organizations don’t have a sustainable content strategy to fuel continuous interest and engagement on social media. On Twitter, your content typically only lives for about 20 minutes; on Facebook, a few hours. But, too often, businesses are struggling to create and share new content multiple times a day to post on these sites.

To achieve a repeatable content strategy that saves you time and effort, here are a few tips for generating and repurposing content for your social media marketing efforts:

Tap into internal experts: Don’t just leave the content creation up to your marketing team or agency, which could eat up a lot of your team’s time. Expand your content creation capabilities by leveraging subject matter experts from all areas of the business to contribute new perspectives on your industry. We frequently rely on product managers, service delivery experts, and even executive leadership team members to provide insight into the industry and provide fresh voices to our prospects and clients.

Share all the content from or about your business: Whether it’s a simple post on your company blog, an article for a third-party publication, a product video on YouTube, a press release, an interview or Q&A, or something else: promote all of your content across your social sites.

4. Avoiding New Content Formats (like Video)

Does your business only post 1-sentence status updates to your social media channels or link to curated content? You may not have experience creating live videos, presentations, or Buzzfeed-style articles, so you use this as an excuse not to try your hand at these tactics, but adding them to your toolkit can help you engage more of your audience on social media.

Here are a few ways to reach and appeal to your target buyers with new formats:

Create engaging videos: Not only do 87% of marketers already use video content, but it’s also one of the most liked and engaged-with forms of content on social media. So think about putting together some videos about your business, products, or services. Some of our top videos include Q&As, short webinars, product overviews, and client case studies.

Try your hand at live video: When it comes to social media, sometimes what works best isn’t the high-budget, edited video. Especially if you are short on time or lack video-editing capabilities. Chewbacca mom skyrocketed to viral stardom with a Facebook live video shot on a smartphone. While she’s not a B2B marketer, the lesson learned here is that sometimes a simple, emotional video is more. Facebook Live has already generated 8 billion video views per day, and on the heels of this, Twitter announced live streaming platform Periscope would be integrated directly into its timeline. Try creating a live video for your brand when you know your target viewers are most likely online the most, like weekday afternoons for Facebook.

Publish directly on social sites: In addition to creating content on your blog or website and amplifying it on your social channels, think about publishing new content directly on social sites themselves. LinkedIn, Facebook Instant Articles, and Slideshare are just a few examples of native content mediums that grow your brand’s reach and engagement on individual social media sites. If you decide to repurpose existing content for these publishers, take some time to make it unique for each platform and format by changing up the text and images – this also helps original to avoid SEO conflicts and site penalties.

Build relationships with influencers: When it comes to B2B social media marketing, some of your biggest lift can come from other people in your industry. Forming relationships and earning interest from top influencers can result in published content about your business (either content that you write or content that’s written about you), shared or retweeted content, positive brand mentions, and more. All of this can add to your social media inventory and propel your business into social media success.

5. Not Paying to Play

Know your goal: If you’re relying heavily on content marketing in your organization, you can reach a broader audience by boosting a popular post from your Facebook page. You should only pay to promote pieces of content that already have a good amount of reach and engagement, since the traffic you generate organically is a good indicator of whether or not your content will continue to perform well when you promote it. If your goal, however, is to drive a true conversion, such as a website download, a call, a contact form inquiry, or an online purchase – you’ll want to create an ad to promote your offer on Facebook that uses the right call to action to encourage viewers to take a specific action.

Use the right targeting: Whether you’re boosting an organic post or creating an ad, Facebook provides an abundance of audience targeting options to help you reach and engage just the right users. For B2B businesses and brands, it’s in your interest to identify and build a target audience similar to people who already like, engage with, and buy from you. There are a few ways you can create a niche target audience on Facebook:

Upload an existing customer or prospecting list (Excel or CSV file)

Create a lookalike audience with traits similar to your current customers

Target specific employers, job titles, industries, and business locations

Select demographics like gender, age, and income

Specify employer and/or job title

Keep your budget in check: Even as a B2B business, you don’t have to spend a ton of money on Facebook. You can start with a small budget and build on it if you see good results from your efforts. Keep in mind that the narrower the audience you target with an ad, the more it will cost you. If you’re not entirely sure who you’re trying to reach and are comfortable casting a wider net, start with a broader audience, and use Facebook’s optimization technology to help your ad reach the most engaged users.

6. Keeping your Social Media Separate from SEO

Go Forth & Be Social!

The most important thing to remember is no matter what you’re doing on social, be active. One of the top mistakes B2B businesses make is simply failing to be social. Because social media is so fluid, you have a lot of opportunities to try new strategies, test tactics, ask for feedback, and be more agile than you can with some other marketing methods. Even if you think you’re just selling boring software, social media can your chance to dedicate some of your most creative minds, time, and budget to your efforts.

A great way to up your social game in B2B is to live tweet industry events.

Nvidia Just Made A Huge Play To Dominate Self

NVIDIA just made a huge play to dominate self-driving cars

Forget powering smartphones and tablets: NVIDIA’s big target is being the brainpower behind autonomous vehicles. The chip company has announced a trio of deals today which see it push aggressively into the automotive space, inking a deal with Volkswagen to work on artificial intelligence, with Volvo to commercialize self-driving cars in just a few years time, and with some of the biggest existing suppliers to get its silicon into their ranges.

With Volvo, NVIDIA will be working alongside Autoliv, the automotive safety firm responsible for everything from seatbelt to radar sensors, and the Zenuity software development joint venture Volvo and Autoliv established. Together, the focus will be next-gen self-driving car technologies, which will use artificial intelligence and NVIDIA silicon like the DRIVE PX car computing platform. Eventually, Volvo plans to have vehicles on sale using the system by 2023.

It goes beyond just the one Swedish car company, mind. While Zenuity will be providing Volvo with autonomous car software, Autoliv will also be selling that software to third-party automakers and other OEMs, with Volvo getting a cut of the proceeds.

In a similar vein, NVIDIA has confirmed a strategic partnership with automotive supplier ZF and camera perception software and sensor tech specialist HELLA. The three will work on automotive AI with a specific focus on the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP)’s safety certification, pushing to get autonomous vehicles using the DRIVE PX platform deemed the safest on the road. On the one hand, ZF and HELLA will be able to build existing driver-assistance systems based on DRIVE PX, but there’ll also be the potential for expanding that to full self-driving abilities.

With Volkswagen, meanwhile, NVIDIA’s chips will expand out from under the hood. The two companies plan to collaborate on using artificial intelligence across the automotive firm’s business, including enterprise applications and powering new mobility services. It’ll be based at Volkswagen’s Data Lab, its so-called “center of excellence for AI and data analysis”, where VW engineers are exploring fields like optimizing city traffic flow, and how humans and robots can better cooperate.

This fall, NVIDIA and VW will be supporting five startups to Volkswagen’s international startup support program. Also managed by the Data Lab, it’ll see both technical and financial support for teams working on machine learning and deep learning applications focused on the automotive industry. At the same time, a “Summer of Code” camp for students of deep learning or robotics is also planned.

Overall, it’s a potentially lucrative segment for NVIDIA to play in. The automotive parts industry is dominated by a handful of key suppliers, providing everything from infotainment head-units down to HVAC systems and suspension bearings. Coupled with the push among automakers themselves to standardize on a small number of platforms so as to maximize economies of scale, and a win at one marque can mean presence in multiple models.

NOW READ: This is the cabin Volvo envisions for autonomous cars

NVIDIA is no stranger to the whims of automotive suppliers, either. The company’s Tegra chips are already found powering infotainment and other systems in various car dashboards, including several generations of Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, which replaces analog instrumentation with fully digital dials and graphics. Back in March, it inked a deal with tier 1 supplier Bosch to work on autonomous car processors.

Your Device Ran Into A Problem And Needs To Restart

This error message, commonly known as the Blue screen of death, is one of the most annoying errors to receive. Not only does your computer randomly crash without warning, but it might have trouble starting back up. The main fixes for this issue involve running various Windows inbuilt tools and updating your software and drivers.

Depending on the specific case, you might be encountering other issues that come with this error, such as infinite boot cycles, updates being stuck on 0%, or your PC will entirely not start back up. Don’t worry, as even though the name blue screen of death sounds intimidating, it has some relatively simple fixes.

In this article, you will learn the common causes for this error message, how to fix it, and how to prevent it from occurring again in the future.

If you are getting this error message onto a blue screen on Windows, the following issues might be present on your computer:

Damaged or missing system files

Corrupted registry files

Overclocking of hardware

RAM errors

Out of date drivers

Software incompatibility

Improperly installed Windows Update

Hard drive issues

Most of the causes for this error are software related, but lousy hardware parts can also cause it.

You might get specific error codes or keywords such as MEMORY_MANAGEMENT next to the error code. If you get such a code, it can narrow down the causes of your crash by a lot, so pay attention if you get an error code there. Sometimes you will not get any error code, in which case you must perform basic troubleshooting.

Below is a list of the most common error codes you might get along with the blue screen. There are over 100 different error messages that can be generated so make sure to check specific ones and what causes them.

FAULTY_HARDWARE-CORRUPTED_PAGE: Your drivers are missing or corrupt

Stop Code: 0xC0000021A: Hard drive or windows update issue

INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE: Incorrectly configured primary boot drive

CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED: Application issue or Windows service error

BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO: Windows registry related error

All of the Blue screen of death fixes we’ve listed below generally apply and work for most of the error codes you might receive, with the exception of some very specific and rare ones.

Just follow the steps below in order to ensure that your system is running error free without any abrupt blue screen crashes.

Windows has a built-in utility tool that allows users to run checks on the integrity of crucial system files that might have become corrupt or damaged for some reason.

To access this tool, follow these steps:

When the system file checker is finished, restart your computer and see if the blue screen error persists.

From my personal experience, the most times I got the blue screen of death crash was after running games with an overclock on my GPU; sometimes these settings persist, so ensure that your GPU and CPU are running at default core and memory speeds.

The best way to reset any overclock is to restart your computer and check if the clock is set at default speed through the application that you used for the overclocking.

Before attempting new overclocks, test for system stability at slower GPU memory and core clock speeds to avoid possible crashes. Some games might crash with very slight overclocks, so test for each game by itself.

If your system has issues in properly managing RAM, it can run into sudden crashes. A built-in tool in Windows runs diagnostics on the RAM to check and fix potential errors. To run this troubleshooter, follow these steps:

This will address issues when you get a text saying: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT in the blue screen error message.

Out of date drivers can cause you to receive a blue screen of death error message due to incompatible software. For example, running specific applications with old drivers can cause them to misbehave and crash.

You have to update your main drivers like GPU, Motherboard, Chipset, and audio drivers.

Safe mode allows windows at the default configuration, settings, and the necessary startup programs. Booting in Safe Mode can thus directly remove many of the issues that can cause the error message “Your computer ran into a problem and needs to restart”.

Here is how to start Windows in Safe mode:

After running Windows in safe mode, see if the issue persists and whether you still get blue screen crashes.

Having a restore point backup is immensely helpful as if some files get corrupted, you can always revert to a previous Windows state, where these duplicate files are still functioning and in order.

To perform a System Restore, follow these steps:

Note that if you don’t see any restore points, it means that you haven’t enabled this feature beforehand.

An outdated Windows operating system can lead to crashes and instability without a doubt. The best way to keep your system up to date is to enable automatic updates. However, sometimes updates don’t get installed.

You can manually force Windows to search for any pending updates by doing these simple steps:

Your Windows will automatically search for and install any pending updates. After which, please restart your computer to apply the changes.

Windows has a powerful utility tool called Startup Repair that will scan and fix many files, settings, and errors within the operating system. Here are the steps on how to run this tool:

Please note that this procedure can take time, so plan accordingly.

Your computer will restart at the end of the Startup repair.

Specific applications might be causing your GPU to crash, causing the blue screen of death. Try removing the last program you installed on your Windows before this issue first appeared and see if that alleviates the problem at hand.

Here is how to remove any installed programs

When installing or uninstalling any software, always restart your computer and see if the blue screen error still pops up during normal operations.

If you constantly receive this error, it might be a sure sign that at least one of the hardware parts in your PC is failing or near failure. The most common parts that cause this issue are hard drives and graphic cards.

If you get the blue screen of death when running any graphically demanding application such as modern games, it means that most likely the GPU is malfunctioning.

Hard drives get worn out with time, and sometimes even the built-in Windows defragmentation can’t fix bad sectors, so in this case, an upgrade is your best bet to fix the blue screen of death error message.

In this case, there is no way to access traditional troubleshooting steps, so you have to do something completely different. Your best bet here is to perform an automatic repair on your Windows system by using the Windows 10 installation USB or disk.

If your PC still keeps stuck in an infinite boot loop with the blue screen of death, it might be time to perform a factory reset on your Windows. Only do this step as a last resort.

The blue screen of death is an age-old issue that persists even on Windows 10

The way to fix it is by scanning and repairing corrupt files or wrong settings

Some applications can cause this crash when run with incompatible software or drivers

If you can’t access any of the basic troubleshooting steps, you need a Windows Installation disk or USB to perform a system repair or restore

How To Fix “There’s A Problem With Your Office License”

Log Out and Then Log Back Into Your Office Apps

When you experience a license-related issue with your Office apps, your apps may be facing issues connecting to your linked account to fetch your license data. This usually happens due to a minor glitch in the connection.

To resolve this, try logging out of Office apps and then logging back in. This will establish a fresh new connection and should likely resolve your issue. Keep your account’s username and password handy, as you’ll need those details to log back into your account.

Launch an Office app on your computer. We’ll use Word.

Select your current account at the top of the Word interface.

Choose Sign out at the top-right corner of the account box.

Select Yes in the Remove Account prompt to remove your current account from your Office apps.

Close the Word app.

Relaunch the Word app and sign back into your account.

Switch Microsoft Office License

If you’ve bought multiple types of Office licenses with your single Microsoft account, make sure you’re using the appropriate license with the Office apps on your PC. An incorrect license can cause your apps to display a “There’s a Problem with Your Office License” error.

Luckily, Microsoft Office allows you to switch to a different license from within the apps. Here’s how to do that:

Launch an Office app on your PC. We’ll open Word.

Select Account from the sidebar on the left.

Choose Change License in the pane on the right.

You’ll see a window with your Microsoft account details on it. Select the Next button in this window.

Choose an appropriate license from the multiple licenses shown on your screen. Your Office apps will use this license for activation.

If you don’t find the expected license in your Microsoft account, it may be that you’ve purchased that license from another account. In that case, sign out of your account in your Office apps, and then sign back in with the account that has the license attached to it.
