Beat those bees in Sonic Frontiers!
Sonic Frontiers is here and making many fans’ dreams come true. That said, the mission ‘Spring is in the Air’ is causing some folks trouble.
Read on to discover the secret to this quest.
Sonic Frontiers – How to Beat Spring is in the Air
The mission description here is poor, only telling you to ‘get rid of the weeds.’ Most players would probably focus on the six giant flowers being indicated, but that’s the wrong approach.
BUY NOW: Spider-Man Remastered (PC) – Green Man Gaming
The weeds the game is talking about are that grass that looks no different from any other grass in the game.
You need to ignore the flower completely. If you make a Cycloop, ensure that it’s focused on the areas of grass you’ve not touched yet, rather than the six flowers. These flowers can attract the bees in the area to distract them, but honestly, if you’re fast enough, you don’t need to bother.
Why Aren’t I Making Points Anymore?
If you’re doing this challenge and wondering why you’re not earning points for making Cycloops anymore, then it’s probably because you’re retreading old ground.
Remember, the point is to clear all of the weeds growing in the grass. If you’re not earning any points as the timer counts down, try moving somewhere else you’ve not already cleared, though it can be visually hard to tell.

Another important tactic is using a big Cycloop instead of many small ones. Casting a wider net is the best option if you’re struggling to find the small area you’ve not already done.
Other Mini-Game Problems in Sonic Frontiers
Spring is in the Air isn’t the only mission that can be tough to figure out at times. There are numerous mini-games and side-quests that can get a bit confusing for people.
To help you out, we’ve listed some of the most commonly misunderstood quests you’ll find in Sonic Frontiers:
Torch in Floor
If you come across one of these things (pictured above) create a cycloop around it. This will activate it and usually generate a glowing ball above it. Your goal then, is to attack the ball in the right direction so it goes through the hoop. Simple.
If you’ve come across a challenge that didn’t have a solution, you’ve probably discover a flower ring. These challenges can be hard to spot because the flowers sort of blend-in with the grass.
Luckily, the solution is simple. Create a cycloop big enough for all of the flowers and you’ll complete this challenge easily.
These are mostly self-explanatory. Simply attack the hourglass, and you’ll be given a time-limited challenge, such as pressing a red triangle pad, or finding 4 glowing orbs.
Make sure you have max rings before you start and these are mostly simple because the challenge straight up shows you where you need to go in most cases.

If Sonic Frontiers won’t launch, open or work on Windows PC, restart your computer and see if the game can open, and if it doesn’t launch, execute the solutions mentioned below.
Run the game with administrative rights
Verify the game files
Add the game through the Windows Defender firewall
Update Visual C++ Redistributable
Install the Media Feature pack
Troubleshoot in Clean Boot State
Let us talk about these solutions in detail.1] Run the game with administrative rights 2] Verify the game files
Steam’s in-built verification feature provides users with an easy way to verify the game files that may be missing or corrupted. It does so by comparing the latest version from the game’s server and the one present on your device. We are going to use the same to verify the game files.
Launch Steam and go to its Library.
In the Local File tab, select Verify integrity of game files.
Steam will now verify the files, and replace the missing and corrupted ones. After the process is completed, try to launch Sonic Frontiers. If it is still not launching, make sure that the OS is using a dedicated Graphics driver.
Read: Steam Games not launching or opening on Windows3] Add the game through the Windows Defender firewall
A lot of times, due to false alarms, Windows’ Firewall blocks games and applications. In such scenarios, we have to manually add the game through the Firewall to prevent it from having further problems while launching. Follow the steps prescribed below to do the same.
Open the Start menu and search for “Windows Security” to open it.
Hopefully, this will do the trick for you.4] Reinstall Visual C++ Redistributable
Sonic Frontiers will not function well need if there is any issue with Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, such as it being corrupted. Reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable will fix all potential issues with the tool. Here’s how you can do the same:
Search for “Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables”.
After uninstalling the app, download and install the latest version of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables.
Once the reinstallation process is completed, open Sonic Frontiers and see if it can launch without further issues.5] Install the Media Feature pack
Windows’ N version has some missing media components that are necessary for Sonic Frontiers to launch properly. On some computers, this pack is not available. If this scenario is applicable, we recommend installing the Media Feature pack to clear this out. Here’s how to do the same.
Type ‘Media Feature Pack’ in the search box, and check the box next to the Media Feature Pack option.
To finish the installation, restart the device.
Hopefully, this will do the job.

An easy way to eliminate things that are interfering with the game’s process is to perform a Clean Boot. This will start the windows with a minimal set of drivers and non-essential applications which will help identify the application causing the problem.
Mark the checkboxes of both the Use original boot configuration and Load system services settings options.
In the Services tab, unmark the checkbox beside Hide all Microsoft services.
Restart your computer, open Sonic Frontiers after the machine comes back on and if it launches this time around, then a running process or application was the culprit. Enable processes manually and then find out which app is causing the issue.
Hopefully, this will resolve the issue for you.

Love Is on the Air SED alum blends sass and sex on the radio
Neely Steinberg, cohost of The Dating Marketplace with Nic and Neely, says the goal of her show is to make issues of love and romance “informative, engaging, and playful.” Photo by Stephanie O’Neill Photography
It’s that day again—Valentine’s Day. Anticipated or reviled, it’s a day of expectation and disappointment, likely to elicit mixed emotions in even the most diehard of romantics.
No drowning in one’s sorrows here.
Steinberg has always loved talk radio; she says she realized there was a need for a show like hers after looking around and finding no local radio show devoted to the subject, despite its being such a critical part of everyone’s lives. The goal of her new show, she says, is to take issues of love and romance and make them “informative, engaging, and playful.”
That she does. The show is funny, intimate, and irreverent, a bit like catching up with an old friend. And like an old friend, Steinberg is happy to speak the unvarnished truth.
“What are your motives?” she asks the audience during a recent broadcast. “If you’re having sex to try to get the guy to like you and want to be with you, if that’s the case, it’s not gonna work.”
You go girl.
“I think young women today get a lot of confusing messages about sexuality and empowerment.” Steinberg says. “I want them to be honest with themselves about what feels good and right to them. It’s so easy to be dishonest with yourself and be influenced by pop culture and the media and your peers instead of listening to your own true desires.”
Steinberg believes that dating on today’s college campuses is challenging. Technology is a double-edged sword, leading people to be more connected, but often making them feel less connected. Drinking and the no-strings-attached culture of hooking up can lead to poor self-image and an inability to create intimacy, she says.
Steinberg speaks from the heart, acknowledging that in college she was part of the hook-up scene, because she didn’t know how else to make connections with a guy. “When I graduated, I had no real understanding of what intimacy with a man was all about,” she says. “I think this carried through into my postcollege life for many years.”
After graduating from BU, Steinberg took her new love of writing and began freelancing, filing pieces for the Boston Phoenix, Boston magazine, and the Boston Globe magazine, among others. Time and again, she found herself drawn to topics about dating and relationships. In 2009 she launched a radio talk show called The Love Hangover. A year later, she retired that program and teamed up with Johnson to create The Dating Marketplace.
Johnson, she says, is her perfect counterbalance: “She is married; I’m single. She comes from a very emotional, wear-your-heart-on-your-sleeve kind of place; I’m a bit more logical, cautious, and analytical.”
Together they bring a mix of personal experience, humor, and information to the broadcast. Not satisfied filling their show with mindless chitchat (OK, there’s a little of that) both Steinberg and Johnson come well prepared, armed with quotes, studies, statistics, and yes, plenty of opinions. They can veer from the outrageous (six sex dolls, really?) to issues of empowerment, trust, and emotional health. Any topic can be a springboard for discussing men, women, and their relationship health. During a recent broadcast, the talking point was the message conveyed by Ashton Kutcher’s latest film, the romantic comedy No Strings Attached, whose lead character, played by Natalie Portman, wants sex without emotional attachment. Needless to say, Steinberg was not impressed.
“Movies like this have a tremendous effect on women and their ideas of relationships,” she says. “These types of movies can definitely poison us.”
Ultimately, Steinberg believes, romance shouldn’t be a matter of just the heart or the head, but the two working together. And despite her own “fair share of heartbreak,” the radio host says, she’s still a fan of Valentine’s Day. “Why not?” she says. “I’m always hopeful, no matter how many setbacks I’ve had in the romance department.”
The Dating Marketplace with Nic and Neely airs Sunday nights from 8 to 9 p.m. on Boston’s UNRegular Radio.

The actual modification itself is easy, and it just involves putting a cheap thermal pad inside the laptop. This provides thermal conduction between the M2 chip and the metal bottom of the laptop, keeping the chip cooler for longer and allowing it to perform better. But while the mod itself is simple, you should consider the associated risks before doing so yourself.Improve your M2 MacBook Air’s performance [Video] Adding the thermal pad
Actually modifying the MacBook Air to get the improvements is fairly straight forward and just involves four screws, but before you attempt this read the safety section. With your device turned off and unplugged, on the bottom of the M2 MacBook Air, there are four P5 Pentalobe screws holding on the bottom of the chassis. A compatible screwdriver can be picked up fairly cheaply or as part of a larger electronics repair kit. With all the screws out, you’ll want to lift up the panel at the front, left, and right sides to disconnect internal clips, and then pull the panel toward the front to remove it from the hooks at the rear of the device.
I personally used a 1mm thick thermal pad during my testing and saw decent improvements in performance, but others have used a 1.5mm thermal pad to get even better thermal transfer; that thicker thermal pad makes it a bit more challenging to reattach the bottom panel. Cut the thermal pad to size and apply it, carefully, underneath the ribbon cable.
As you go to put the screws back in, make note of the threading. The two screws with shorter threading go at the back of the laptop nearer the hinge, while the screws with more thread go near the front of the laptop.Performance improvements
*With the second run, the unmodified M2 Air had a bit more time to cool off, but the future runs were all started immediately after the previous one finished.
After running these tests and seeing the improvements, I wanted to see if a 1.5mm thermal pad would provide even better contact and performance. While it took a bit more effort to reattach the bottom panel, with that thicker thermal pad the M2 MacBook Air received an initial Cinebench score of 8535. That’s 930 points better than an unmodded M2 MacBook Air and almost 500 points higher than the M2 Air modified with the 1mm thermal pad.Potential issues
While many of us always want to get the most out of our hardware, there are some issues that can result from the mod.
It will lead to the bottom of the laptop getting hotter than is recommended. This can make it uncomfortable to use on your lap when running at full power – there’s a reason Apple didn’t design the M2 MacBook Air to do this. Additionally, while just taking apart an electronic device like this may not void your warranty, any damage you cause by taking it apart and making changes will likely not be covered.
There is also the risk of fire should you damage the battery. None of the installation of the thermal pad requires you to mess about with the battery, but as you have the laptop open, be sure not to apply excessive pressure to or puncture the battery cells. This could cause a lithium fire – which is extremely difficult to put out. As Apple explains in their own repair manuals, in the event of a battery fire, you need a bucket of sand nearby to smother it. Read up on, and be familiar with, proper battery safety procedures.
M2 MacBook Air internals, with battery outlined in red.
I have also seen several people worried about degradation to the SSD and battery that could result from the extra heat transfer of the thermal mod. In my testing, the computer’s SSD and battery sensors didn’t seem to show excessive heat as a result of the modification – but that’s not to say it couldn’t be the case. Apple likely throttles the chip to slow it down and reduce heat if other components – not just the CPU – are getting too hot. So while it’s important to be aware of this potential, I don’t think it will truly become a problem.Should YOU mod your MacBook Air?
For 95% of people, doing this would be a complete waste. If you’re just doing general web browsing, document editing, and media consumption, you won’t need or use that extra power. The other 5%? Well, most of those people should probably go with a more powerful laptop or desktop with active cooling instead – something like the 14-inch M1 Pro MacBook Pro.

Deciding between the original iPad mini and the iPad 4 was tedious due to a feature gap stemming from the notable hardware differences between the two. On the other hand, the choice between the iPad mini with Retina display (or the iPad mini 2, as it’s now called) was a no-brainer. Both came outfitted with essentially the same hardware— from the sensors to the A7/M7 chips to the cameras — so the decision came down to picking your preferred screen size.
Here are ten iPad Air 2 features that the iPad mini 3 lacks which make the bigger model a better buy and arguably the right device to boost your tablet computing.1. Fully laminated Retina display
The iPad Air 2, the first Apple tablet with the fully laminated display. We’re talking about the same process technology Apple uses in iPhone manufacturing, which makes the images appear as if they were painted directly on the glass. By combining the three separate screen layers — the cover glass, touch sensor and LCD — into one, optical bonding doesn’t just eliminate the gaps between the layers, but gets rid of the internal reflectance caused by those gaps. In turn, you’ll enjoy richer colors, better contrast and sharper, more vivid images overall on the iPad Air 2.2. Antireflective screen coating
With a custom-designed antireflective coating, the iPad Air 2 reduces glare by a whopping 56 percent, making it “the least reflective tablet in the world”. The new mini doesn’t have it, meaning its 7.9-inch Retina screen just isn’t as clear and readable in different kinds of environments as the iPad Air 2’s 9.7-inch panel is.3. Thinner profile
At just 6.1 millimeters, the iPad Air 2 is the thinnest iPad yet. By comparison, the iPad mini 3 is the iPad Air-7.5 millimeters thick. You may not care about thinness at all, but many people do and the 1.4 millimeter difference is definitely visible to the naked eye.4. A8X processor
With a billion more transistors and faster architecture, the iPad Air 2’s new A8X processor delivers a 40 percent gain in compute performance and more than double the graphics performance (2.5 times faster, to be precise) versus the A7 chip ticking inside the iPad mini 3 (and the previous iPad Air). Your apps and games will run a lot smoother on the iPad Air 2 and iOS 8 will be more responsive and fluid on it compared to the iPad mini 3. And thanks to the A8X, the iPad Air 2’s cameras have enhanced face detection and better noise reduction.5. M8 motion coprocessor
The iPad mini 3 still contains the last year’s M7 motion coprocessor whereas its bigger sibling packs in the latest M8 chip that debuted last month on the new iPhones. Whereas the M7 continuously measures data from the accelerometer, compass and gyroscope sensors without taxing the main processor, the M8 adds support for a new barometer sensor. And because it continuously calibrates all five sensors — barometer, gyroscope, accelerometer, GPS and compass — the M8 helps improve power efficiency.6. Better iSight and FaceTime HD cameras
Moreover, its front-facing camera is virtually unchanged, as opposed to the iPad Air 2’s FaceTime HD shooter with an improved sensor for crisper video calls, even in low light. In short, you’ll take better selfies on the iPad Air 2.7. Burst mode
The iPad mini 3 does’t support Burst camera mode because that feature requires the A8X processor, which the mini doesn’t have. Compared this to the iPad Air 2, which lets you fire off ten photos per second, with the software automatically detecting smiles and blinks to pick the best shot.8. Slow-mo video capture
The iPad Air 2 can shoot dramatic slow-motion videos at 120 frames per second, a feature not found on the new mini. In fact, the iPad Air 2 is the first iPad with Burst mode support.9. Three times faster 802.11ac Wi-Fi 10. Barometer sensor
An all-new barometer, exclusive to the iPad Air 2 and new iPhones, senses air pressure to provide relative elevation that can be fed to iOS 8’s Motion app. You just can’t do that on the iPad mini 3 without using a specialized accessory compatible with Apple’s HealthKit.
It would be premature to say that Apple has deliberately underpowered the iPad mini 3 in order to push undecided shoppers toward a pricier iPad Air 2. If you ask me, engineering teams have been spread thin and may not have had enough time to pack all of the new features into a smaller device yet.
Apple will continue to sell both previous versions of the iPad mini and the original iPad Air at reduced prices starting at $249 and $399, respectively.
Speaking or prices, 16/64/128GB iPad Air 2 models are $499/$599/$699 while the iPad mini 3 will run you $399/$499/$599 for the same 16/64/128GB storage tiers.
Add an extra $130 for 4G LTE cellular connectivity.
Are you disappointed that the latest iPad mini doesn’t keep up with the iPad Air 2 hardware-wise? Do the aforementioned goodies justify the iPad Air 2’s higher price tag, do you think?
And finally, are the aforementioned hardware features worth an extra $100?

While Apple has been refining the Beats brand since taking it over in 2014, the Apple AirPods Pro are still the most popular option, especially for iPhone users. In fact, the Apple AirPods Pro and Beats Studio Buds actually compete against each other, and they’re tough competition. Both are true wireless earbuds with active noise-cancellation (ANC) and a selection of ear tips. They’re both pricier than most consumer earbuds, but they’re pretty close in price to each other. Let’s put them head to head to see if you should go with the Beats Studio Buds or the AirPods Pro.

Both the Beats Studio Buds and AirPods Pro have an IPX4 water-resistance rating, so they’re both suitable for working out. Both come with multiple sets of silicone ear tips so you can ensure they fit your ears properly.

The AirPods Pro have small indentations on the earbud stems for controls. Different squeezes adjust music playback, Siri, and noise cancellation. You can also control the earbuds using Siri voice controls. There’s also automatic ear detection, so your music will pause when you take the earbuds out and resume when they’re back in, though this feature only works on Apple devices. You’ll also need an iOS device if you want to customize controls on your AirPods Pro.
The AirPods Pro have better integration with Apple devices. They have an H1 chip, so they automatically connect to all your iCloud-connected devices. Once connected, you can control the earbuds from the control center, or from the settings app. From here, you can turn on spatial audio, automatically switch between devices, take an ear tip fit test, and more.
On Android or Windows devices, AirPods Pro work like other Bluetooth headphones. You have to manually put the earbuds into pairing mode to connect them to your device, and once you’re connected, you can customize relatively few functions. Thankfully, ANC and transparency mode work fine, since they’re controlled by a hard press of the stem.
Initially, the Beats Studio Buds didn’t integrate as well with Apple devices, but a firmware update added iCloud pairing to the earbuds. Once they’re paired to one Apple device, all of your iCloud-connected devices will recognize the Beats Studio Buds just as they would AirPods Pro.

Neither microphone is fantastic, but they’re both good for phone calls. The AirPods Pro emphasize voices better than the Beats Studio Buds, so you’ll sound more intelligible speaking into the AirPods Pro microphone. Take a listen to both microphone samples below and see for yourself:

You can get up to 24 hours of total listening time with the AirPods Pro charging case, while the Beats Studio Buds charging case provides an extra two full charges. The AirPods Pro case charges with a Lightning connector, and the Beats Studio Buds charge with USB-C. The AirPods Pro support wireless charging, while the Beats Studio Buds case can only charge using a wire.
The AirPods Pro have slightly better active noise-cancelling performance. Low-frequency droning sounds like a plane or train are about half as loud as they would be without the earbuds and ANC. This isn’t the best, but it’s enough to considerably reduce annoying sounds on your commute.
The Beats Studio Buds only make lower frequencies about one-quarter quieter. It’s not great, but it’s better than nothing. Between the two earbuds, you’ll notice a bigger difference toggling ANC on and off with the Apple AirPods Pro than with the Beats Studio Buds.
However, the ear tips on the Beats Studio Buds provide slightly better isolation than the AirPods Pro, blocking out higher frequencies like the clang of pots and pans better. If you decide to keep ANC turned off to preserve battery life, the Beats Studio Buds will block more sound passively.
Sam Smart / Android Authority
This frequency response chart shows the Apple AirPods Pro (cyan line) and the Beats Studio Buds (dotted yellow line) compared to the SoundGuys consumer curve (pink line), which is a general ideal frequency response for consumers.
As expected from Beats at this point, the Studio Buds amplify sub-bass and treble notes more than the AirPods Pro. While many people prefer a sound like this, the sub-bass and treble notes are much louder than bass and low mid sounds in between, making it harder to hear vocals. Many vocal performances will sound clearer on the AirPods Pro than the Beats Studio Buds.
Neither of them come with customizable EQ, so you’re stuck with how the earbuds sound out of the box unless you use third-party EQ options. If you like hip-hop or EDM, you’ll likely prefer how the Beats Studio Buds sound. If you prefer acoustic or vocal-oriented music, you’ll prefer the more neutral sound of the AirPods Pro.
Apple AirPods Pro vs Beats Studio Buds: The verdict
Chase Bernath / Android Authority
If you have an Android phone, the choice here is obvious. The Beats Studio Buds will work better with your phone and they’re more affordable than the Apple AirPods Pro. Due to the price and limited functionality on Android phones, we don’t recommend the AirPods Pro to Android users.
For iPhone owners, the choice is more complicated. If you want high-end features like wireless charging, spatial audio, and seamless switching between Apple devices, the AirPods Pro is worth the money. Now that the AirPods Pro often go on sale for less than $200, the expense is easier to justify for those seeking the premium experience.
Apple AirPods Pro
Grab the ultimate pair of Apple headphones and enjoy the added power of the Pro name. With an improved charging case and silicone ear tips, you can listen all day with ease and comfort.

If you don’t care about all the bells and whistles, Apple users can save a few bucks by going for the Beats Studio Buds. Beats earbuds cater to those who care about design and portability, and you still get great features like noise-cancelling and an IPX4 rating. Regardless of which you choose, you’ll be better off than if you bought the AirPods (3rd generation).
